Just to add my thanks to the author of this. It's been a HUGE help even though I'm into my second season. Thanks, mate.

Because you want a safety who will miss tackles rarely so if you play a 5-3-3 you only have to use 1 safety so missing tackles is minimized there. Also, you get more pressures and you still have 3 LB's to tackle the reciever

So, is this semi-true:
The "theory" behind the 5-3-3 is similar to the offensive plan of sending out only one receiver. You are better off plying only your most skilled player so that the game engine doesn't randomly choose a less skilled player some of the time. The 5-3-3 is essentially "stashing away" players at the most meaningless defensive position (DT/NT) so that your good players shine everywhere else on the field.

If that is actually the optimal defensive strategy, then that is just plain whack

Sorry can't find this anywhere.

When talking about WR and CB/SF, is it generally positioning more important for WR then vision, then Vision more important for defensive backs then positioning.. or the other way round?

Ok so:

Defensive Backs:
Positioning
Vision

WR/TE:
Vision
Positioning

Just writing it down for my clarification Cheers viktor.

I would concur, only thing i would bring up would be... this is in a pass offense orientated system.. if (will it ever happen?) your oppenot was playing the run, your Db's may want to think about bringing Vision up... i may be wrong, just my experience... and something to think about...

This guide will be discontinued now that I am leaving the game. Same goes for the two scripts I adapted to fit it.
