If you PM a manager enquiring whether a player has caps on speed and strength and they tell you the player has no caps, and when you purchase the player both speed and strength are capped, is there any comeback or is this simply a case of "let the buyer beware"?

Seems a bit of a raw deal, as I have always responded to all queries about the players I am selling honestly.

This discussion is as old as the game...the admins stated somewhere it is your problem not to scout him, and your problem if you trust answers in PMs about...sad but true

Sadly, the admins have previously stated before that they will do nothing about a manager miss-leading or outright lying when selling players, even in the ads section. So, treat everything as buyer beware.

Personally, I keep a personal list of managers I find to have lied or mislead about players and I refuse to buy from those owners unless it's a humongous steal for me.

Admins have even said we aren't allowed to keep a public list of such managers.

I answer any queries I get honestly, but it's pot luck.

Nowadays I just stick to youth pull fishing or buying players with decent enough physicals anyway.

What these managers dont understand is that word will spread about their deceit and it will bite them in the arse, just take a while

One team from Romania found that out

Just remember section 5 in the game rules:

-----------------------------------------------------------------

5. NO ACCUSATION OF CHEATING / ABUSING MANAGERS
No accusation of cheating / abusing managers in forums, you need to contact the admins via PM / "Contact us".

-----------------------------------------------------------------

So PM the admins and they will decide whether to do something or not... most likely the later of the two...

Since speed and strength caps are not reflected in scout reports (*should be, but isn't), it's required that buyers be prudent. First, you can look at the advertisement section and see if any caps are listed. Just know that the manager may not list caps, lie about caps or accidentally type caps wrong. Second, you can ask the manager and hope they give you an honest answer. My experience is most managers will either let you know or just not respond at all. Some may lie and as already stated, just don't buy from them again. Also, just be prudent. That is to say, use good judgement. If stamina is over 10, I generally will assume the player has at least one cap, possibly both for speed and strength. If stamina is 7 or less, then I will generally take my chances and bid. Also, I usually bid on players that already have speed and strength close or at where I want them to be for the position I'd like them to play if I get them. One last thought is that if the player has the same flag as the player selling them, you can assume if they have only been there 0-1 week and they are 16-18 years old, they likely have no caps

On the bright side, it was an inexpensive lesson. A couple of seasons ago there was a team advertising 2 star talent players as 5 star talent. That got ugly for multiple owners. (the admin did nothing). Unfortunatly you can not do anything about capped players, however, I always run a scouting report if it is for an expensive player unless his BPOS is already at 5.

this is my take
i dont see you whining when you bag a steal ( that 4.5-5 * uncapped player for 50000)....or tryng tio find a way to pay the previous owner a fair price - so yeah you got a crate of broken eggs - deal with it.

If I was ever in the situation, I would inform the community of the deal. I would only use the facts as that is within the rules. Something like:-

I just brought PlayerX from TeamX and I asked the manager MrX if the player had caps or not. He told me no caps. Once the player had transferred, I noted he had both caps for sped and strength.

I haven't broken any rules. I did not called him a lier. I have not abused him. I have not accused him of cheating. I just stated the facts, and I allow the community to make up its own mind about the situation.
