No - What they're saying is that right now Special Teams are currently (they are talking of changing it) calculated last. You only improve at 1 position in any given game. So if your player plays a WR and KR he will only increase his position rating at KR and not WR. If a benched WR plays KR he will increase his positional rating at KR. I think that was what you were asking Guru.

Thanks

That does help, but I believe that you mean that the Wide Receiver which is also playing at Wide Receiver and not just Kick Returner, receives the rating in Wide Receiver first, as Special Teams are caculated last. No?

I believe if you play at WR and KR then you only get positional rating in WR...

No he would only get a rating improvement at KR as this is calculated last and effectively 'overwrites' any rating improvement at WR if he also played at WR in the same game.

Bit of a contradiction here....

Special teams is "Calculated last" yet a WR playing at both WR and KR in a match is receiving only KR rating....does not make sense...

oneknee got it right. What they are saying is that any player playing in a game INCLUDING the Kicker/Punter will only receive a positional rating increase in 1 position. That position is whichever is calculated last. In the case of a WR that plays KR he will only receive positional rating at KR and not at WR. Now if we can get them to tell us if Punter or Kicker is rated first... I'm guessing Punter is last. Which means everyone playing a dual character will not have a positional rating increase in one or the other. Looks like we need to put a player on the field for EVERY position if we want them to get better positionally at that position.

The craziest thing for me is this:
A player (CB) whose task it is to block a gunner on special teams will have his positional rating improved for CB in pass defence even though he hasn't played as a CB in a pass defence. Confirmed by Admin above.

It's all very well Admin saying this is a game and not real life.
But we come to this game because we like football and we know how it works from watching it.
Creating a game with weird things like Special Teams as it is now and the 'defensive blocking' controversy we had last season may well make it a fun and interesting game but is it football?

I think it's the word calculate that you're having trouble getting around. What they're saying is that a player profile is opened. If they played WR it is given an increase, but if he also played KR then the WR increase is over written and the KR increase is placed instead since it was called last.

It's the word "last"..

I assume "last" means bottom of the pile. Meaning anything above this is calculated before, and therefore used..

But I see where you are coming from now. Just a problem with the terminology

I'm pretty sure Punter and Kicker have the same positional rating ... Punter is never listed as a position, it's just Kicker, which applies to both placekicking and punting.

And I agree with whoever said it's crazy that the CBs for Special Teams gain Defensive CB positional ratings, because the required skillsets are very different.

That was my assumption too until the whole ST overwriting thing came about. Now I'm not so sure.

The only difference is that the ST CBs need Blocking instead of Position. After that the skill sets are pretty much the same. Then again, Admin has come out and said that Blocking does help the Defense to a small degree and I doubt that Position would be worthless to ST CBs... so the skill sets are pretty much the same if you look at it that way.

Pretty sure that STs CBs don't need tackling either. Gunners seem to be like fast LBs, STs CBs seem to be more like TEs without the catching.. or FBs without the carrying. I can't really fathom a reason why anyone would use a CB on the KRS as standard procedure.
