Look at your Players Kickoffs. If they get you over 40 in the avg,
they might get you over 40 in FGs.

Mine is going in average over 60 Yards in the Kick-Offs...

...and he barely scores from 40 yards FGs...

Mine is also going over 60 in Kickoffs,
scored 2/2 within the 40 this year.
But i never let him shoot more than 40,
so how should he?
I will let him try within the 50 for the next few Friendlies,
i will tell you how he fared by then

Kickoff yardage SHOULD NOT be the same as field goal range. I've never looked, but that should be reported as another bug if they're the same (which I don't think they are).

Ok, i know my English is not that well,
but if you see it realistic, if someone
is able to kick the ball over 60 yards,
he should be able to shoot a 50 yard FG.
Thats simple logic

What it boils down to is that the kicking game needs to be re-calculated completely. Although I agree that footwork/agility/strength should share a part in the performance of a kicker, if they can't revamp all of that, the distance of punts, ability for coffin corner punts, and field goal kicking needs to be recalculated.

What would you think would be a good breakdown? We should make our voices known on this so that the admin at least have an idea of what we expect, imo.

I'd say a kicker with 5* bpos and 20 kicking (assuming they don't include any other skills) should have a max field goal strength kicking distance of 65 yards, with an accuracy rate of 10-15%, and then obviously improving the closer it gets.

65 yards - 15%
60 yards - 20%
55 yards - 30%
50 yards - 40%
45 yards - 50%
40 yards - 60%
35 yards - 70%
30 yards - 80%
25 yards - 85%
20 yards - 90%

Does this look about right for how the best kickers should perform? It just goes to show how far off the current system is.

It is very simple logic...so simple that it's wrong. Now let's use some advanced logic.

On kickoffs, a kicker gets a running start at the ball...they only get a few steps on a field goal. I don't want to start pulling out physics formulas, so I hope you can understand that this leads to the ball getting struck harder on kickoffs...making the ball go further. They also don't need to worry as much about accuracy on kickoffs.

This is why most NFL kickers can get 70+ yards on a kickoff, but most can't make a 60+ yard field goal.Last edited on 2010-11-08 at 2:52

It seems like it, but it's really quite different kicking a field goal and kicking a kickoff. They're not even comparable really..

I'd change the percentages on the outsides. The NFL record is 63 yards, so I wouldn't put that at 15%...more like 3-5%. And a 20 yarder is basically an extra point...that should be, like, 99%.

Hmm so like this?

60 yards - 10%
55 yards - 20%

40 yards - 65%
