Marino and Elway need to be switched

You can't hold the "he never won a superbowl" arguement over his head. Superbowls are won by the best team. Elway only won them when he had a good running game and a decent defense, both of which Marino never had.

Plus, if winning a superbowl is the be all and end all for QB's, does that make Trent Dilfer better than Marino? No one can make that arguement, so superbowls do not a great qb make.

No other position has that qualifier. You can be a great running back (*cough* Barry Sanders *cough*) and not win a SB, same with defensive players, and WR.

numbers are all well and good but WINNING is what makes a QB great. Shaft you are right, RB's don't have the same standards held to them neither do WRs or defensive players, but they don't get the glory either. the QB is the most important position on the field, and if i need someone to WIN the game. I want Montana first, then Elway. Dude won a TON of big games. only to get housed by a much better NFC team. Elway's teams were just as bad as Marino's dolphins, the difference is Elway wins those games.

I didn't say winning the superbowl was everything. I said WINNING was everything. Elway did more than win those two superbowls he lead three broncos teams to the super bowl. One could argue that Marino had better recievers over the course of his career than elway did as well. Marino had shot after shot after shot to make it deep into the playoffs and he didn't get it done. Montana and Elway were winners. Ask any Browns fan who he hates the most to prove my point. People fall in love with Marino's numbers. Matt Cassel just had a huge number game, wanna anoint him the best QB this season?

I don't know guys from the old days but this season Drew Brees is doing a good job and Cassel is making good progression.
