Just watch the Lions. They won't make the playoffs but they also won't be the worst team. They could score points last year but they could not stop people from scoring points. They will have a more defensive minded system in place and they are going to win some of the close games thanks to a Man among boys! (The man among boys is Megatron).

I agree with megatron. The Lion's biggest problem was their defense(especially the secondary, which intercepted 1 pass all season). This year they signed a couple of good linebackers and a couple of solid defensive backs. They should be better on defense, and I'm going to predict that Culpepper starts at QB to start with. They still didn't address the offensive line, and because of that they won't win more than 5 or 6 games, but they'll be far better than 0-16.

As for the worst, I'm going to go with the Rams.

Honestly Mark, I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm friends with some people who, let's say, know their stuff and, for the time being, the chargers aren't even favorites in the division. Some of the guys don't think they'll make the playoffs..

But it's awfully early, and I haven't scouted the team since the end of last season, so I don't know personally. Just passin on some stuff I've been hearin..

Okay, I'll bite...who is the favorite to win the AFC West?

I think the Chargers must be by default...Raiders wouldn't be very good. Ditto the Chiefs. Denver has a new coach and dealt Cutler in that disaster. I can't think of who else might be the favorites.

Anyway, between the Patriot and the Chargers...I think a lot depends on how well Brady and Merriman come back from their injures.

If you don't think the Chargers will win the west, you don't know football! The Raiders, um no. Broncos, yeah right. Chiefs, hahahahahahaha!

The Broncos will win the AFC West with a strong 6-10, second the Chargers with a solid 4-12, third and fourth the raiders and chiefs go 1-15.
The Chargers went 8-8 last season... That's not that great. And the 8-5 Broncos choked, the 4-8 Chargers got somewhat lucky.

Two major things that 8-8 record is overlooking. Merriman was out for the season, and Tomlison was hurt for part of it. Once he came back he was still no where close to the normal LT. Yes, every team has injuries. But when you lose not one but 2 of the league's biggest impact players, one on each side of the ball, you're going to struggle.

With those 2 healthy I'd say they would have went 10-6 or 11-5. All of their losses except one was by 7 points or less, and that one was 9. They were literally right there in every game and a couple of big plays could have changed them. It's not a stretch to think that a Merriman led defense makes one more big stop or that a Tomlinson led offense can score a few more points in many of those games.

did you see Merriman get decked by MJD? I believe the steroids might have helped him some, and he's probably worse without them.

they wre 8-8 because it was enough to make the playoffs.
if that's not the case this season, then they're gonna play better from the begining^^
