Just logged into it for the first time, bought a ship and flew to Mars (without any missions as I didn't know what I was doing). Now heading back to Earth on my first mission which pays less than the fuel cost to get there...

Gonna be a long grind!

I had a go on it the other day and even though I only owe $1.2 mil I am definitely getting my legs broken by that money lender...

This comment goes so well with that Moe avatar.

---

I was kinda hoping to see a few other ships in space, but so far I haven't encountered anyone.

I flew to Ceres for a mission (floated there in the end as I ran out of fuel) where I was told that my message-delivering skills weren't good enough.

Now I'm headed to Pluto for no particular reason... mostly to hide from that stripey-faced loan shark. He'll probably still find me too.

I can't say I'm completely sold on the game, but it isn't bad either.

I'm making steady money, although it's relatively slow. Think the loan shark will be paid off pretty soon despite only starting today.

Nothing really happens in the game at the moment because my ship is too rubbish to hold enough fuel to get anywhere, but it could have some potential later on when there are more possibilities of things to do.

I'm actually quite enjoying it so far.

Yeah manual wasn't that much help but I think i've got to grips with it now. Some features certainly don't seem to be active yet, like combat and boarding ships/piracy.

With regard to the debt you start with, I took the smallest loan so owed 1.2M. Unfortunately I got arrested yesterday while carrying a load of illegal goods, I went to jail and lost my stash which left me with about 5k!

However i've just managed to pay off my debt

Trading

Look at the prices of goods/resources between Earth and Mars as its a short trip, and especially between Earth and the Moon as you use such little fuel and there's no journey time.

Also with the loan shark I believe those 120 days are in real time.

That's what I've been doing.

Also mining on Mercury as we speak cuz you can just leave it going over night. Will only make 100k over night or so, but not bad for not doing anything.

Hint for those doing their first job (delivering a message most likely), know that after you accept the job, you have to view the mission and click next before taking off. I don't know how many times I've accepted a mission, gone to the planet to deliver the message, only to discover that I have to go back to the original planet and (I'm guessing) pick up the message. So a back and forth trip for nothing.

Problem is, I've done this several times. You'd think I'd remember eventually. LOL

Useful tip! I've done this a fair few times as well. You have to do this for most jobs as well, not just the message delivery ones

OK, so I just spent 1.9m on illegal substances and then got arrested and got it confiscated so now I have 4k credits to my name and still owe zebra face 1.2m. Not sure I can be bothered grinding that back up again all the way from 4k...

There's definitely some applicable phrases about crime not paying and putting all your eggs in one basket...
