Landry is a possession receiver. There's plenty of those on the market of the same talent level. However, he has some name recognition over those others, especially with the game he had last week. If he finishes the season hot, Miami should look to trade him while is value is highest, allowing cap room and options for addressing the issues the team needs addressed more. QB being one of those needs.

This is exactly my point, thanks for a great post! Also, the 3rd down conversion stat is a huge stat and often overlooked. Instead, many casual fans look to fat stats mostly gained in blowout wins or against inferior opponents. The great receivers are those that turn 3rd downs, especially those that are caught behind the 1st down line and are converted into 1st downs. All potential receivers (TEs, RBs and WRs) are relevant in this category. The player that lead the league last season was actually a RB, with an amazing 63% conversion rate. So you can call that an irrelevant stat, but it's actually a big deal.

Landry is a slot receiver. Anquan Boldin is a possession receiver. Some possession receivers can play well in the slot but there is difference between a pure slot receiver and a possession receiver, and Landry is clearly a pure slot.
Wide receiver is the position in football I'm less familiar with but even I can spot that difference between these two specimen. He is a black Wes Welker.

Dolphins need Parker to step up and be consistent in the #1 receiver role. Landry is more than a good player and I hope he has a long career with the Dolphins but just for curiosity I would like to hear who you would put in his place. Given that as you say there are jillionz of great slot (not possession) receivers ready to contribute with similar production and they dont even want to get paid.

I already suggested 2 players that they might go after. Not jillionz, as you suggested. They may decide to put that additional salary into a shot at another QB. I know a decent back up in New England, even 2 of them. Anyway, read my earlier post to see I already provided this. If you need more suggestions, PM me and I will send you a more complete list

Scoring points wins games, period. But moving the chains and controlling time of possession gives a team a better chance to, not only score, but keep the ball away from the other side. Possession receivers do this. Usually they're big, great route runners, strong hands, and reliable as hell to be where they're supposed to be. That's what makes Brady so dangerous, also Manning before he retired. Aerial offenses, based on timing are nearly impossible to stop.

Landry is middle of the road for size, but has strong hands and consistency. He's where he is supposed to be, almost every time. He could be a top notch receiver if his QB was worth anything. He runs good routes and he's got some speed, which helps. The knock for him is an unreliable QB.

Which is why the idea of trading him is a good one. He has very high value and that can be used to gain financial strength to shore up other areas that need help. Parker and Stills can be a decent pair of WRs for the near term, but they need a QB. Trade Landry, secure a top notch QB, young, even a rookie, and train him for a year behind Moore. Odds are, the Fins 2018-19 season will be a monster.

Jarvis Landry is 24 years old and has a 2017 cap number of $1.1M. Cutting him loose because "he isn't elite" is dumb as hell.

He's not elite, he's just good and that's it. Sometimes exciting, but where was he from game 3 to game 14? Great game last week, a blowout and easily confuses the casual fan. Buy low, sell high............please reference the Patriots to understand this WR logic

It's called an opinion. There was nothing condescending about it. His lack of production in the games mentioned are a fact. Casual fan is not condescending, most fans are casual fans. That is also a fact. These are the type of post that get you in trouble, so maybe try to avoid them

Your comments are ALWAYS condescending and this is something, along with these 'threats' you like to make, are something I have personally brought up with other mods and will be doing so again. Maybe YOU should be careful. Just because you can think does not make it fact.....AND THAT IS A FACT !!!

Best of luck to the Dolphins in the race for the playoffs
