I didnt say it was 1996 season, I said they played in 1996.

"Much like when a real team went to play Florida for the national title in 1996"

You did say "play", but you also said "for the national title in 1996". It was played in 1996, but for the '95 national title. I was just clearing it up

Now we have a good understanding and we can watch paint dry

Oh yes, don't forget the popcorn (I don't like popcorn)

Was an ugly game by the Dolphins. Seems to have just regressed back to there old ways. Dan is gonna crush somebody post game.

Turnover Tannehill dropped it twice, lost one and the other for a safety. (AGAIN!) Snaps was bad though, but not too bad.

Lamar Millar is a machine though. Enjoy watching him play.

I did enjoy the Tannehill reception also. Nice to see some razzle dazzle.

They are only 2 games from 6th seed so not a lost season yet. The whole AFC doesn't have a great winning records outside of the current division leaders. Wildcard spots are still up for grabs.

the defense is horrible without wake, and hes 33 or something so he might not come back next season. hope they draft a guard and a defensive end.

Agree with project on Miller

Fox was terrible at OT.

Tannehill so and so, too much inconsistency. Every time we do something good we balance out with something bad. He might have a good rating on profootballfocus but mistakes are huge.

Some defensive players were really bad yesterday: Vernon (or any other random DE)couldnt set the edge, Grimes couldnt cover or TAckle, LBs were too easy to block. Suh was the only disruptive force. He had a sack, was deprived by one because ref allowed TAylor to throw the ball while he was in the grasp, another because of a fault by Misi on the same play and was held blatantly at least twice.

I'd say they are long outsiders for playoffs, even via the WC. Teams not winning the divisions that I'd rank as much better options for the WC in the AFC include the Jets, Bills, Steelers and Raiders. Can't see the Dolphins ranking above any of those teams, let alone 3 of them.

Bills as a team are clearly above given the last two h2h. In the end, the team is flawed and is not run well enough to know where the flaws are and how to patch'em up.

I hear what you are saying. And even though the Lolphins seem dysfunctional, so are all those other teams.

Jets - cannot string 2 wins together due to injuries.
Bills - cannot string 2 wins together due to injuries.
Steelers - cannot string 2 wins together due to injuries.
Raiders - cannot string 2 wins together due to lacking defensive talent.

So lets add the Dolphins in:-

Dolphins - cannot string 2 wins together due to dysfunction.

With some luck, I don't see why the Dolphins couldn't chase down the others. For all their dysfunction, amazingly they are the tenth ranked team in the AFC. The Dolphins, or any other team mentioned just need to be more consistent and they'll separate from the others and take the fifth and sixth seeds. Dolphins just have a steeper hill to climb.

p.s. I predict with the inconsistency of the middle pack teams in the AFC, that a playoff spot will go to a 8-8 record team. Where you'll need 10 wins in the NFC even for a wildcard spot.

It happened the other year too when the Dolphins and the Chargers pipped the Ravens to a WC spot on the final day (with the Chargers beating the Ravens in the dying seconds of the game), so wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again and I definitely think you're on the right lines. Absolute max any of these lot will hit is 9-7 and that's at a push.

Still don't see the Lolphins turning over a 2 game deficit at week 10 to pip 3 of those teams though, injuries or not

Dont know why other teams get a pass for their mediocrity and Dolphins are always more at fault. Dolphins had relevant injuries too that cost a lot to the team due to poor depth.

Louis Delmas FS (team leader, productive veteran- gave way to bad performance by Aikens and average by michael thomas)
Albert LT
James RT (both gave a chance to shine to Jason Fox, who was always horrible allowing strip sacks like it was nothing)
Cameron Wake (no need to explain :thumb.

Fact is there is a lot of middle level teams (or mediocre) who can perform great and bad week in and week out. They are just incomplete teams for different technical reasons.
