Maybe Gatr you should put things into perspective because any job is different and I dont know if your job is to kick asses of supremely trained athletes. Stomping someone in that kind of job with a lot of adrenaline flowing is not like stomping a guy who asks for a pencil at the office. It's worth a fine but not more in my book. Some other things he does are exagerated because journalists always like a thug story when they can create one out of nothing, like when warren sapp blindsided Chad Clifton.

Off the field he is softspoken and a businessman. The quote about the agent picking his next team is just a sign of how smart he is recognizing the business part of the game. I can only respect him for being able to maximize his value but that doesn't diminish his dedication for the game

Spin city right here.

Hyperbole much?

The league is full of guys who are guilty of sexual assault, battery, hit and runs, DUI's, taking PED's or recreational drugs, dog fighting and all manner of other criminal activity.

If your going to start banning guys from football for cheap shots, then you'll soon have no left to play the game.

Yes, a bit of an exaggeration (a year would have been fine on any of the stomps), but........ The dog fighting guy actually served his time, so I have no problem with Vick. I will not group recreational drugs with sexual assault, DUI and battery, they are very different. Personally, I would ban players for a minimum of one year for any conviction on sexual assault, battery or similar criminal activity. Their annual salary could go to the victim or any charity of the victim(s) choice. That way the team has a responsibility to hire the players with the best character and are involved in these hiring choices too. Teams must have a stake in all of this, just as families share in the stake for their kids and their actions. As for the recreational drug users, I would treat these things with a 3 strike rule. 1 strike and you are out for one game, 2 strikes and you are out for 3 games, 3 strikes and you are out for one year. It's no different than anything else. Have a well stated policy and then enforce it. Don't worry, we won't have to ban everyone, just the thugs that commit what we ordinary people call crimes (whether on or off the field)

It's not surprising personalities of this sort, that liter the Miami locker room, would require superior management to handle and produce great team results.

Suh was a captain in the best Nebraska defense of the last 15 years, one that was clearly national championship caliber and n°1 in the nation in 2009.

Last year if I recall correctly Lions were #1 defense in the NFL.

He cant play offense but I guess a defense can do pretty well with him in the lineup.

There have been plenty of mean SOB's to play this sport over the years. Suh's temper and aggressiveness is nothing unique in that respect. Hell Chuck Bednarik did far worse in his day and was revered for it.

Also, wasn't Suh the Lions emergency kicker at one point?

I would agree with that. Once you establish a culture where such things are punished you can see how quickly some people are to tidy up their game. Look at the difference in the Australian team now and in the last Lions tour thanks to Cheika. Other sports can do it so I can't see why American Football can't.

I'm going to assume you guys haven't gotten too far into competitive sports. I'm pretty decent in junior hockey as a goalie and even I non stop punch people no stomping but I'm not even close to considered a dirty player. Wanting to hurt the other team is part of sports. You want to fight while playing sports because it fells right to do. There's nothing wrong with it, it's wide spread over every sport especially those with contact.

I'm with you on the whole vilifying Suh for being on a bad defense while making a pile of money is silly deal. But this post is just absurd.

I'm also going to assume you haven't got very far in competitive sport as you play junior hockey...

Also, you're hardly the Mike Tyson of hockey, don't you weigh like a buck ten or something? Doubt there's too much weight being thrown about, especially in all those pads.

Wanting to hurt the other team is borderline sociopathic, not anything to do with sports. Wanting to beat the other team and having respect for a fellow competitor is everything to do with sports, but wanting to injure them is not. You aren't going to get much further than you've towered so far in the world of competitive sport if that's your mentality.

Who even mentioned Greg Hardy or any kind of ranking of dirty players with Suh at the top? I don't agree with Suh being kicked out for stamping, but do agree with bigger fines for players earning so much money (40k to any NFL player is pennies). Also, Greg Hardy doesn't have any on field issues, just a shed load of off field issues, so tough to compare the two as they're complete polar opposites
