A mistake I made early after reading the rookie section was focusing on my original players physicals and putting them into positions that matched ignoring BPOS. This put me a half star behind BPOS wise when I finally realised.

Think of your current team as throw aways unless very young and talented and just play them in their best BPOS position and use your youth pulls each week to make a futures team to replace them once fully trained. This will allow you to build a decent team on BPOS now and prepare your young players for the future.

I am relatively new as far as this game goes also so there may be a better way to do it but this has set me up fairly well as far as players go so hopefully it helps you too.

Given that BPOS starts at 2*, there isn't much difference between a player's 'natural' position and the one where he has 0.5* BPOS. It's true that the players who aren't below 20 and talented should be seen as throwaways, but the way their position is determined should be a bit different. Skills will take longer to change than BPOS. You've got 18 league games, 18-19 friendlies, and a few cup games in a given season-about 40 in all. That means roughly 2* of BPOS can be gained each year. So a difference of 1.5* BPOS between two positions for a player (which is the most you'll ever find on a brand-new team) can be overcome with about 3/4 of a season playing at the 0.5* position.

When you don't have the fitness hall, training hall, or coaches, with just 10 training points per week plus whatever you get from teamwork (5-6 points for an average player), you're getting about 300 training points a season. That's 3 skill points. If there's a difference of just the 3 skill points, that means it's better to play the temporary guys (low talent/too old) at the position that their skills are suited for, rather than their current 'natural' position-getting them to be near-optimum at a position will take about 1 season, rather than several. If the difference is 5 or more skill points between all the relevant skills, the choice should be a no-brainer.

I dont see that as a mistake at all. You should definitely match players to positions based on their physicals and team needs.

The only other thing that might influence this is if they have a position specific skill trained to ~ 10, but a new team shouldn't have many players like that anyway. And if the physicals don't match that position then even that's futile.

Plan to infinity - that's the key. Never mind about this season or the next. The only real time to worry about the here and the now is when you think you have a chance to win a div 1 title or the regional cup.

Well, I am trying what has been suggested... not follow BPOS and placing most of my team in different positions, ones I think they are better suited for. I may get it right, or wrong, but the first game looms, and I am eager to see how my placements work.

Game 1 results to come.

Great

Each week playing a bot, try different formations and tactic. You get an idea of what can and cannot be done.

But what happens if I loose to a bot team. I want to win. Also what happens at the end of season. Do I go up a level, or face the same teams next season in the same draw. I know I am getting a little ahead of myself, but just wanting to know.

You won't lose to a bot team unless you also bot your own team (by not setting orders or by having injured players in the lineup for that match.

Unless another human turns up in your division shortly, you have that division to yourself. You will win it and thus get promoted to div 2 next season.

The winner of a league gets promoted and the bottom 3 get demoted. The leader is shaded in green and the bottom 3 in red to denote that.

How many HUMAN players are in this division, and more importantly how many are in our region?

I realise this, but how long absent do you have to be before your team becomes a bot team?

Also other than sponsors, do I earn money? Do you get it from seats? I know I have no seats ATM, but I suspect, you get to set price of tickets for seats. What is the average pricing for a beginner team like mine?
