World Cup XIV - Week 1 - Qualification - 29.05.2015 [b/]



Group A

Italy will start this season at home , against Austria who this year will be lead by an italian manager.Will see how this decision will be at the end of the season.For Italy will be another year for another try at the gold.Italy wins the toss and they choose to kick the ball.And it was a good decision , cause at the the first drive theyr defence pick up a ball and give the offence the easy chance to score.After that , austrian offence thrown another interception , but this time , Italy scored only a FG.By the end of the quarter the score was 17-0 after another TD by Italy.At the start of the second quarter Austria managed to get on the scoreboard with a TD.But at halftime the score was 31-7 for Italy.The 3rd quarter was exactly like 1st quarter , with 17-0 points in the favor of the italians.In the 4th quarter , the mediteranians took the foot off the gas a little , for a 45 points difference win and the first place in the group.Next week Italy will host Turkey and Austria will host Sweden.Maybe next week will be better for Austria.Italy hope and they got a good chance to make a 2nd win next week.

Italy 55 - 10 Austria

USA is in the pursuit for another medal at the World Cup.Theyr last medal was at the World Cup 10 in Brazil when they've got beaten in the final by UK.So 3 season without a medal is a long time.Maybe is time for the 3rd title of Wolrd Champions , but will see.Today they have to get past Turkey.A very good bur unconsistent team.First quarter , first drive , first pass , first TD.That was fast ! Another drive , another TD was pretty much the entire quarter , for a 21-14 after first quarter.The surprise came in the 2nd quarter when at halftime the scoreboard shown an incredible score of , 28 - 21 for Turkey and the crowd was crazy.They could beat USA.But the dream quicly got away.First drive of the 3rd quarter turkish QB trow an interception , USA scored and the score was tied again.After a few more TD's from both teams , the score was 49-49 and the game was to be decided in the last quarter.With 11 and a half minutes till the final blow , USA scored a TD , Turkey failed to tie the score once again and the final buzz get USA a very hard win but a very deserved one.Italy is leading this group , follow by USA and Sweden , but Sweden without any games.TUrkey and Austria are last.

Turkey 49 - 56 USA


Group B

Derby between neighbors.Spain and Portugal meet in the first week at the qualification and it was the former World Champions who got the win.Let's see how.Portugal managed to score first a TD , Spain respond quickly also with a TD , but after that the game of both teams drop a little because both teams throw an interception each.Then the spanish defence force the portuguese offence to punt the ball , Spain take the lead but this time it was Portugal turn to tie the game.Luckily for Spain at the last attack of them , they managed to take once again the lead.21-14 after the first quarter.First drive of the 2nd quarter bring once again the score to an even 21.Then it was once again "interception time".First Spain , then Portugal trow an interception and by the end of the half Spain scored 3 TD Portugal only one , and the score was 42-28 for Spain.After the break it was the defence game who shine for both teams.Maybe a little more for Spain.The 3rd quarter ended with none TD or FG for both teams , on top of that with 1 interception each.The rest of the game was pointless until the last 5 minutes of the game when Spain managed to score one more TD for 49-28 win.Six total intercepptions for both teams , three each.It must be some kind of a record.Next week Spain will travel in Slovakia as Portugal will host Denmark.

Spain 49 - 28 Portugal

Good defence game for both teams in this match.First quarter was weak in offensive great things.Only a TD for Denmark and a FG for Slovakia.At the start at the second quarter Slovakia miss a 45 yards FG and right away Denmark scored another TD.Luckily for Slovakia they managed to respond with a TD at the very next drive.In the end of the half Denmark throw an interception but Slovakia failed to take advantage of that.14-10 at the halftime for Denmark.The second half was more attractive , offensivily speaking.Slovakia managed to score two TD's and Denmark with a TD and an interception was for the first time in the game behind Slovakia.In the 4th quarter i don't know what happened.Maybe the danish defence was very alert or the slovakian offence was asleep but for 9 minutes the slovakian offence failed to score.Danish offence take the lead of the game and in 5 minutes they scored 2 TD's.After that it was one TD for Slovakia , one for Denmark and another for Slovakia , but it was a little to late for Slovakia , because Denmark came in the end with the victory.A victory at 4 points , but indeed a victory.Spain is first , Denmark is second , Slovakia third and Portugal is last after this week games.

Denmark 42 - 38 Slovakia


Group C

This game it was realy one sided , as the World Champions failed to score only at two drives.In the rest of the drives they scored 7 TD's and one FG for a 66-49 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.Bosnian offence messed up at the very first drive and Hungary took advantage and score the first TD of the game.Beside the start of the game the score was tied only after 5 minutes when the score was 7-7. From then , Hungary crushed them.21-7 after the first quarter.In the 2nd quarter both teams managed to score a pair of TD's each so the halftime score was 35-21 in the favor of the hungarians.Third quarter was pretty much the same , with Hungary at the lead of the game and after 15 minutes of play , and 2 TD's each team plus an FG for Hungary , the score was now 52-35.Last quarter of the game was exactly like the second quarter.Four TD's , two for each team and the final score was 66-49 for the World Champions from last season.No interceptions for the defences , just a sack for the hungarian defence.No magical numbers for the QB's eighter.Just a fun game for Hungary.Next week Hungary will have a much harder game when they host Argentina.Bosnia will host Brazil.

Bosnia & Herzegovina 49 - 66 Hungary

Weak game in this match.Both teams with a final PCT of less than 38%.Just a sack and an interception for Brazil.That was the magical numbers for this low scoring game.Just a weak game for both offences.The defence has no awards.The QB's from both teams throw the ball very bad. First quarter ended with the score 7-7 and a interception from Belgium.Until the halftime , Brazil managed to score one more time for a 14-7 lead.Third quarter was for the europeans as they scored the only TD of the quarter.14-14 and the game was in the air.Both teams could win but they need to be more concentrate.And that team was Brazil , cause at the first drive of the quarter they scored the winning TD.As i sayd at the start of this article , weak game.We annouce both teams , rise the game a little or you will be sure victims for Hungary and Argetina.Hungary is first in the group , Brazil is second.Argentina , Belgium and Bosnia are the the buttom.

Brazil 21 - 14 Belgium


Group D

One of the greatest games of the week took place in Czech Republic where we salute the International debut of american manager "cflames3412".Good luck we wish you.Now let's go back to the game.Magistral performance by both defence , with a slightly better performance by the czech's.First drive of the game , czech defence forced France to punt the ball , and right away the score was 7-0 for the Czech Republic.Next drive was worsed than the first one for France , as they throw an interception.Czech Republic took advantage of than and scored again a TD for a 14 points lead.Second quarter was exactly in reverse.France scored at the first drive of the quarter.Now it was Czech's turn to throw an interception.France scored again and the game was flowing in the favor of the french.The Czech QB throw another interception , and another TD by France.It was the third in 6 minutes for them.The score was now 21-14 with 6 minutes until the break.But the french QB lose once again the concentration and throw another interception.Czech Republic scored and it was 21-21 at the halftime.What a game ! Third quarter was the same as the first quarter , with Czech Republic scored twice and France failed to score.35-21 after 3rd quarters and France was still hoping.Maybe another comeback ? First drive of the last quarter , brought the TD that France was looking for.But after that the game was set.Czech Republic scored a TD.France throw the 3rd interception of the game and Czech Republic scored again.Big , very big win for Czech Republic.Could be the surprice from this year ? Will see.Next week they will travel in the cold Russia , as France has a Bye week.They need to change the tactic a little bit.

Czech Republic 49 - 28 Portugal

Easy game for Russia in the first week.For Bulgaria is another season , maybe will be better now , because now they have a foreign manager."luke_Sgp" will be in charge this season.Good luck to him.Now let's see why Russia got this massive victory.The QB was on fire in the first quarter cause from 3 drives he pass for 3 TD's.Bulgaria failed to score in the first quarter.First drive in the second quarter , another TD for the russians.It was need for 19 minutes of play , for Bulgaria to score a TD.I was the only one until the break for them.At halftime the score was 35-7 for Russia.Bulgaria was the first team to score after the break followed by Russia with 2 TD's.At the last drive of the quarter , Bulgaria scored another TD.Both teams score a pair of TD in the last quarter for a 63-35 win of Russia over Bulgaria.Good start for RUssia , better luck next time Bulgaria.Next week they have a much easier game in the game against Ukraine.Russia will meet Czech Republic in the battle for the first place of the group.Rusia is first , followed by Czech Republic.Ukraine , France and Bulgaria are on 3rd , 4th and 5th.

Russia 63 - 35 Bulgary


Group E

After an UK manager last season , this season Poland goes for one from Denmark hoping that the results will be better this season.For Columbia is the same manager as last seasons.After minutes in the first quarter , the score was 7-3 for Columbia after a FG from Poland and a TD for the south americans.But after that , by the end of the quarter Poland scores 2 TD's and score was 17-7.Columbia throw an interception in this quarter.In the second quarter Poland scores 3 TD's , Columbia failed to score any points and it was looking that the game will have only one result.In the second half , Columbia managed to level the game a little , but the big margin from first half was too big to recover something.Two TD's for each team in the 3rd quarter and no interceptions or sacks.In the start of the last quarter both teams suffer a lost of concentration , first Poland when they throw an interception and then Columbia when they missed a FG from 52 yards.To be honest it was a big challenge.Just before Columbia scores the only TD of the quarter , Poland missed a FG from 29 yards.This miss could be judge a little harder.At the end the score was 49-28 for Poland.Next week Poland get over the ocean , for a game against Canada.Columbia has a week off.

Poland 49 - 28 COlumbia

"mrcasado" is back in the international coaching.This time is for New Zeeland.He hopes that if they will qualify for World Cup , they will avoid UK.Just for the sentiments.Canada has the same coach.Canada with a little luck in the first quarter , they got the lead with 2 long TD's one from 53 and one from 63 yards.New Zeeland scored only one TD and the score was 14-7 for the north americans.Second quarter was pretty much the same.Canada scored 2 TD's plus one more FG , New Zeeland scored only one TD and the score was getting bigger and bigger.31-14 at halftime.New Zeeland can't figure out a way that they could stop the canadian offence.The third quarter continues in the same way that the rest of the game.First New zeeland was forced to kick the ball for a FG from 41 yards.Then the rest of the quarter was pretty much a bust for New Zeeland , cause Canada scored two more TD's.In the last quarter New Zeeland wake up and tried to recover , but i was too late.They scored 3 TD's but Canada was too far in front.The final score was 45-38 and Canada could hope again at World Cup.Poland is leading the group , follow by Canada.Slovenia is on third.New Zeeland on 4th and COlumbia is last.

Very nice write-up although I wouldn't call Norway and east team to beat. In recent times they have performed very well.

It was in comparation with Australia.I don't say that they are weak , but they are not on the same level as Australia.But it is just my opinion , i could easily be wrong.

Norway has always been a darkhorse but their potential is declining.
Some seasons ago they could have been really special but imho they were mismanaged. They can beat anybody and get beat by anybody.

The Italian one isn't too shabby.
