World Cup XIII - #9

World Cup XIII - Denmark - 12.04.2014[b/]

We are now heading , to find once again who will win the World Cup.Maybe will be an experienced team who already win it or maybe will be a brand new World Champion.After the main groups the teams with at least one World Title are only United Kingdom and Switzerland.We also have two teams that lost at least a final.These teams are Hungary with one silver medal and Demmark with two silver medals.For New Zeeland , Norway , Slovakia and Finland will be a good chance to change that
Now , let's see what happened in the quarter finals.

Quarter final 1

The first quarter final of this year , put face to face the winner of the Group C and the runner up from the Group D.Slovakia and United Kingdom.It is the 3rd time when Slovakia reach this stage at World Cup and maybe this year will be the first time when they go in to the semi-finals.They have a tough job cause the enemy is United Kingdom.Five times World Champions , but with weak seasons in the last two years , when they got knock-out pretty early.First quarter was tie at 7 after a score to each at the middle of the quarter and one interception by UK on the second drive of the game.In the second quarter after an 84 yard pass TD and a 74 drive ended with a TD , Slovakia entered at half time with a lead by two TD.United Kingdom receive the kick off from the 3rd quarter and after a 66 yard drive they scored a TD , and there was reason to hope again.The UK defence worked very well this quarter , cause Slovakia failed to score.But United Kingdom scored again , this time it was only a FG , from 38 yards.The forth quarter was wide open , and any team could win the game.First drive of the quarter ended at the 50 yard line , with a interception by the UK's QB , returned by slovakian CB for 16 yards.Slovakia took this chance and scored a TD for a 11 point lead.Next drive UK decrease once again the difference and the defence was back on the field with a presure once again at them.Slovakia scored once again a TD and that will be the final score of the game.A 11 points win and Slovakia will fight for the first time for a medal at the World Cup.For United Kingdom , this year is once again for the 3rd time in a row , a disappointing season.It's nobody fault.It is only the lack of a little luck.

Quarter Final 2

After a first drive in the first quarter by Switzerland ended after just 4 plays , New Zeeland scored at the first possesion a 60 yard TD.Next drive , after 4 plays and 81 yards , the swiss level the score at 7 each.That was also the score for the first quarter.Than on the first play of the second quarter , New Zeeland scored again a TD , after a 80 yards drive.After several drives when nobody scores , the swiss managed to level the score once again , with an 88 yards pass TD.At the next drive , New Zeeland took the lead once again , and we will see that this time , will be till the end of the game.At half time , the score was 21-14 for New Zeeland.The 3rd quarter was a monstre one , with TD in the every single drives.The first and the last drive of the 3rd quarter , ended with TD's for New Zeeland.The swiss were in a little trouble now.New Zeeland lead now by 2 TD's.In the last quarter , Switzerland try to recover , but it was a little to late.First three drives of the quarter ended with TD's.One for New Zeeland and two for Switzerland , unfortunatly for them , not enought to push the game into overtime , so New Zeeland reach for the first time the semi-finals at World Cup.New Zeeland QB , Mike Leota , 35 years old (at this time) , ended the game with a PCT of 66%.All in one a good season , for the swiss.On the other side , a brilliant season for New Zeeland , who will finish the season , fighting for a medal .

Quarter Final 3

Scandinavian derby.This will be the 9th game between these two teams.Denmark is leading 6-2 on Norway , before this game.Norway has the chance to reduce the difference , and this time , with a victory they could fight for a medal.Denmark had the Kick-off , kicked for 68 yards , returned for 40 yards by norvegian KR.After a return like this , it was pretty easy to reach the end zone , and after five plays , Norway scored the first TD of the game.Second drive of the game , after 8 plays and two from two 3rd downs , Denmark managed to tie the game.Up next it was Norway's turn to score after a drive that last 9 plays and also with two 3rd downs from two tries.Denmark scored again and after the first quarter the score was 14-14.In the first three drives of the second quarter , there was 3 TD's , 2 by Norway and one by Denmark , followed by a punt from the danish and a interception by the norvegians , and in the last drive of the first half , Denmark managed to tie the game once more , for a 28-28 score at the half time.After the break , Denmark took the lead of the game for the first time.Norway bounce back , realy quick with another TD and the game was tie again.The Denmark offence is back on the field , but because of the presurre of the game , the danish QB throw a interception and after this , Norway scored again and once again the lead was on the side of Norway.But Denmark didn't abandon the fight and they scored twice until the end of the quarter and took the lead once more.On the first drive of the last quarter , Norway tied the game for the last time , unfortunatly for them.Next drives Denmark scored again , Norway throw another interception and then on a punt by Denmark , they fumble the ball , Denmark recover and score again , for a win that will give them a chance to fight for a medal.

Quarter Final 4

These game hadn't had place since the first season of the World Cup , when Finland beat Hungary twice in the qualification for the first Grid-Iron World Cup.Since then , both teams , had almost very good results , Hungary obtained a silver medal , and last year , Finland was close to obtained a bronze medal.Maybe this year this thing will change for them.First drive of the game , Finland reach the 84 yard line but the hungarian defence managed to stop them.And Finland scored only a FG.Hungary respond with a TD after that and Finland with a TD for a 10-7 lead after the first quarter.On the last attack of Finland , theyr QB throw an interception.On the first drive of the second quarter , Hungary score a TD , follow by a TD for Finland.And then Finland's game , suffered a unexplaned drop.Hungary scored a TD , Finland failed to score and then with 12 seconds remains on the clock , Hungary score the last TD of the first half.Finland defence step it up the game , after the break , and the hungary offence failed to score at all in the 3rd quarter.Finland managed to score twice and the score after 3rd quarters was , 31-28 for Finland.In the last quarter , Finland suffered again a drop in theyr game and Hungary took this chance to win the game.They scored a TD on the first drive of the quarter and then managed to defend against the Finland offence and score one more TD , for a 11 points win and a qualification in the semifinals of the World Cup 13.

Very interesting stats on the past games. Great work.

The final itself is also very exciting. I have Hungary as slight favourites, but Slovakia have shown this season what a force they can be.

World Cup XIII Finals - Denmark [b/]


Semi Final 1

Kickoff cois toss was won by Denmark , and they have the chance to start the first semi-final of the World Cup 13.First drive of the game last only 4 phases , ended with a punt , and Slovakian offence was on the field for the first time , and only need one phase to open the score , with a 76 yard pass TD.Next drive , Denmark tried to score for the first time , but the Slovakian defence was in a great form and denied once again.After that , Slovakia managed to score again , and with 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter they lead 14-0.Denmark succeed on the 3rd attepm , after 8 phases and 69 yards , the score became 14-7 for Slovakia.The drive started on the final of the first quarter and ended in the start of the second quarter with a punt , give Denmark the chance to tie the score at 14.And the danish offence took the chance , and it was once again anybody's game.Slovakia's offence blow up the chance to take once more the lead in the game after 4 phases , they were forced to punt the ball.After that , Denmark took the lead for the first time in the game , but didn't last long , because with 20 seconds before half-time , Slovakia tied the game.21-21 at the half-time and both teams still have hopes for the gold.Slovakia began the second half but unsuccessfully on the scoreboard.Denmark took the lead once again , but unfortunately for them it was the only TD of the quarter and it was for the last time when they will lead in this game.Slovakia managed to score 3 TD's before the end of the quarter and they took a very good advantage.The 4th quarter bring another Danish TD , and their hopes to recover.But by the end of the match , Slovakia scored two more TD's and they are in the Final.The hosts of this year World Cup will fight for the bronze.

Semi Final 2

It was needed for an interception from Hungary to see some TD in the first quarter of the second semifinal of the World Cup 13.After 10 minutes New Zeeland trown an interception , and right away Hungary score a TD.At the start of the second quarter , New Zeeland managed to tie the game.But it was the only time when the game was close.Hungary score 2 more times before half time and the game was in the hand of the hungarians.At the start of the second half , Hungary scored again , New Zeeland thrown another interception , Hungary scored again , but this time only a FG , and the game was realy one sided.In the last quarter , both teams scored one TD for a final score of 38-14 in the favor of Hungary , which will fight for the second time in theyr history for the biggest trophy of the Nationals Teams.They will need to face Slovakia in the final match of the World Cup 13.New Zeeland will have to settle and try to get the bronze medal.The opponent in the 3rd Place Playoff will be Denmark , the team from the qualifying group.They need to be better than today to get some medals .

3rd Place Playoff

The most painfull match of the season for one of the participants.After a very good final tournament , you could finish with nothing.Or you could finish with a very shining Bronze medal.But for that you need to be very careful and strong moraly.This year the unliky teams to play this game are Denmark and New Zeeland.Demark has 2 other silver medals and one of bronze , but New Zeeland is still seeking for one , of any kind.Let's see who won this time.First drive of the game and Denmark managed to score a TD after 3 completions from 4 attempts and 73 yards.New Zeeland offence was forced to punt the ball , Denmark also , and then New Zeeland managed to put some points on the scoreboard , but it was only three points , after a 34 yards FG.The score after first quarter was 7-3 for Denmark.New Zeeland take the lead in the second quarter with a TD , but Denmark after another TD they were back on the lead.14-10 at half time , for Denmark.In the beginning of the 3rd quarter New Zeeland scored a TD , then both teams throw an interception.New Zeeland increases the lead with a TD in the end of the quarter.Denmark scored a FG at the start of the 4th quarter , New Zeeland with another TD and Denmark with 2 TD's in the end of the quarter for the final score 31-31.Unlucky end of the game for New Zeeland.They loss the toss for the overtime ball , and 8 phases Denmark managed to won the 2nd bronze medal and the 4th medal in theyr history.

Final

Greatest game of the season for only one team between two.The reason is simple.You can win 20 games in one season and display a perfect performance for the entire season , but in the final game , you could choke and lose the most shining medal in the world.Don't take this in the wrond way , a medal is a medal , but i don't like to win the silver over the gold.Now let's see who won what.Hungary and Slovakia fought in the last game of the World Cup 13.Slovakia is for the first time in the World Cup Final.Denmark is for the second time , first time they lost against United Kingdom.Slovakia started the game very well with a TD in the first drive of the game.But Hungary managed to score at the very next attack.Slovakia continue to go forward and at theyr last attack of the quarter they took once again the lead of the game.At the first attack of the second quarter , Hungary tied the game once again , Slovakia scored again a TD for a 7 points lead , but Hungary tied again.At half time the score was 21-21 , and the final was very exciting.Third quarter was a bit weak for Slovakia as they failed to score any TD , only scored a FG from 41 yards.On the other side , Hungary score a TD , and with only one quarter of play , they lead by 4 points.They put 7 more points on the scoreboard and it seems that Hungary will win the World Cup 13 in the regular time.But Slovakia doens't agree and score a TD for a 4 points lead by Hungary.Slovakian defence keep the hungarian offence pretty far from the end zone , and the Hungary Special team was on the field , and with a FG from 35 yards the score was now , 38-31 for Hungary.With 3.30 minutes before end of the game , Slovakia tied the game for the last time.The game went in Overtime.Hungary won the toss , and after only 3 phase they become World Champions for the first time in theyr history.Slovakia is devastated but with the silver medal in theyr pockets.

That's all for this season.Another season with surprises.Another season when Italy failed to win the most shining medal.A season where a brand new NT become World Champions.
