Not necessarily. I've been bumping up against the 70-player limit for most of the season, but that's because I have about 50 "lottery tickets," players who could be useful if physicals turn out just right. Top level teams will have more players who are sure things, but I'm willing to bet the remaining ones aren't just roster filler, but instead are B-level prospects or lottery tickets.

So it seems that the engine decides whether "one" player is injured or not every week.

If this probability is determined by the amount of players then a larger team gets more injuries "per season" which makes sense.

Either way it's actually an advantage to fill your roster with rubbish players so that the chance of injury to your stars is lessened. Shame.

This entirely depends how the odds of getting an injury scales with the roster size. If (and it is a giant if) the odds of getting an injury doubles if you double your roster size then the odds of your star qb being injured are the exact same.

Don't think so.

There is either an injury or not, and if so there is no more chance of any player being the one than another. Kind of a "safety in numbers" thing. The individual chance of any given player being selected is less the greater the roster size.

It is a valid point hosh brings up. Odds of 1 in 70 are better than 1 in 50 when an injury occurs, as to dodge injury to one of your starters.

But the salary cost of adding 20 waste players to your roster, then you might as well pay your doctors $45K a week to reduce your chance of injuries by 50%. Cos 20 added waste players will have a larger salary than your doctors.

I should clarify that I meant "not necessarily rubbish players."

Actually, though, I think it's not really an advantage in the long term. Yes, the chances of a given player getting injured are lower with 70 players than with 50. However, the difference is only about 0.6%. Over a full season, that's roughly a 12% reduction. Meaning, on average, 1 injury averted every 8 and 1/3 seasons.

As you stated, however, there's a cost. That advantage is negligible, and is certainly balanced out by the disadvantage of paying salaries to 20 extra players. Even if we assume that they make an average of 2K per week (what rubbish players should make), that's 40K per season, or around 330K per injury averted. Not to mention that wasting 20 rosters spots is no small thing.

It's good to make full use of your roster spots; If you have 40 non-starters with at least 3.5* talent, more fellows will cap high than if you had 20. I keep a roster around the 70-player limit and, if that lowers the chances of an injury to a starter, so much the better. But that's not why I have those extra players.

Have you upgraded your Docs?

If you not then you got very lucky

Level 1 Docs
5% chance to recover 1 additional day
2% chance to recover 2 additional days
Reduce the potential of training injuries by 2% (40%)

Level 20
100% chance to recover 1 additional day
40% chance to recover 2 additional days
Reduce the potential of training injuries by 40%

So each level of doctors adds
5% chance to recover 1 additional day
2% chance to recover 2 additional days
2% chance to reduce potential training injuries
