same as coaches to hire.

This is the reason for doctors. When you get an injury, you get them back twice as fast. Worth it, like insurance. Nobody likes to pay, but it does pay to have it

So I finally decided to upgrade to level 20 doctors as I seem to be getting so many lengthy injuries. At the start of this season both my starting TEs were out for my first game, I lost that game and I think it was definitely a contributing factor in me finishing 2nd for the 3rd season in a row

Today (with my new level 20 docs) I got another lengthy injury! At least he'll be back a bit quicker but it's prompted me to go back and track all my injuries this season.

14.03.14 (Week 1) - Starter (TE). Out 17 days.
21.03.14 (Week 2) - N/A
28.03.14 (Week 3) - Youth. Out 27 days.
04.04.14 (Week 4) - N/A
11.04.14 (Week 5) - N/A
18.04.14 (Week 6) - Starter (KR). Out 17 days.
25.04.14 (Week 7) - N/A
02.05.14 (Week 8) - N/A
09.05.14 (Week 9) - Starter (CB). Out 15 days.
16.05.14 (Week 10) - Starter (TE). Out 20 days.
23.05.14 (Week 11) - N/A
30.05.14 (Week 12) - Backup (DL). Out 8 days.
06.06.14 (Week 13) - N/A
13.06.14 (Week 14) - Youth. Out 20 days.
20.06.14 (Week 15) - Youth. Out 21 days.
27.06.14 (Week 16) - Starter (GNR). Out 19 days.
04.07.14 (Week 17) - Starter (CB). Out 28 days.
11.07.14 (Week 18) - Backup (QB). Out 25 days.

So this season i've had 11 injuries in 18 weeks.

Out of those 11 injuries, the durations are

Under 1 week = 0
1-2 weeks = 1
2-3 weeks = 7
3-4 weeks = 3

Some of them did heal a bit quicker from my level 1 docs but I haven't tracked this.

I plan to track my injuries going forward now to see if the level 20 docs are really worth it. But does anyone else think I seem to have had a stupid amount of injuries this season?

That does seem a bit OTT. I've had 2 this season; the first guy was out for 3 weeks (or missed 3 games at least, unsure of the exact timings of the injury) and the second missed one. He could have played regardless but his health said "bad" so I thought I wouldn't bother risking it and him getting smoked all game (in case that has any effect on his level of play)

while it does seem uncommon. you do carry a large roster most of the season. every player every training update has a chance to be injured. so a team with 50 players is gonna get less injuries that a teams with 70 players.

with full doctors, 4 of those 11 injuries would been completely healed by the next training date. although with 20 doctors, you dont seems to get injuries longer than 21 days.

That's news to me, I was under the impression there was one chance to get injury during training update and then a random roll to see who got injured and then a random roll to see for how long. I would be surprised if every player got a roll, there would certainly be a chance for multiple injuries each week, not to mention an advantage to having smaller rosters, which I've never heard of.

Anyway, 11 injuries in one season is a lot! I've only had a 2 or 3 this season, the last one coming this week, naturally right before my game with Haker, to one of my starting OT's. Perfect timing, thank you GI

Edited for you

Just a small point but it is possible to get more than 21 day injuries with 20 doctors, but the injuries reduce quicker and take about 9 to 10 days to clear. I've had a few injuries this season, including a 28 day monster, but you do appear to have had more than your fair share. I will be keeping doctors at level 20.

Yeah that's probably more likely as else you'd think with level 1 docs there would be weeks when a few players got injured

The one of the advantages of level 20 docs compared to level 1 is it reduces the potential of injuries by 40% rather than 2%, but that doesn't really give any indication of the chance for a player to get injured in the first place.

The full breakdown is

Level 1
They give an injured player 5% chance to recover 1 additional day and 2% chance to recover 2 additional days during each injury update.
They also reduce the potential of training injuries by 2%

Level 20
They give an injured player 100% chance to recover 1 additional day and 40% chance to recover 2 additional days during each injury update.
They also reduce the potential of training injuries by 40%

So each level of doctors adds
5% chance to recover 1 additional day
2% chance to recover 2 additional days
2% chance to reduce potential training injuries

From other comments it seems that i'm just very unlucky to have 11 injuries this season. I might check back through last season to see if that was particularly high as well.

I always presumed that there is a roll to decide if you get an injured player but the chance of you getting an injury was based on the number of players you have. Certainly teams with bigger rosters seem to get more injuries than me but I have never done a study on it. I may start next week. It might be an interesting project though I would have to deal with the fact that doctor levels and training regimes are unknown (the second will be normal nearly all the time, I might be able to find enough people who have publically stated the level of their doctors to do it).

This would mean there is no advantage to a larger roster or a smaller one. With a smaller one it is less likely you get an injury, with a larger one you get more injuries but less of them on starters. Of course this depends on the exact odds involved.
