I read the spiling the beans and read the forums and have taken lots of advice on the best way to start. i.e stadium , coaches, training hall, players.

one thing i havent seen much information about is Doctors.
When the best time to invest in these?
do you use the same idea as staff and get all 20 in one go to avoid the signing on fees?
Obviously 20 is the best but is this cost effective?

As always id like as many views as possible from all different managers explaining their approach to hiring Doctors

hard to remember now, but i think they work the same as the coaches

at your level they're not worth buying yet, you need to be saving the loss of crucial, and expensive players to justify paying $45k pw

keep them as they are, just grumble at the injuries for now, and wait till you can afford them and your in a higher league, then buy in one go

sorry to be boring, but wait and build the stadium, as usual!

coops

I've still only got Level 1 doctors myself - I seem to pick up an injury on average every other week, and the average injury length is around the two week mark.

If the injuries were more frequent than that, I would probably upgrade to Level 20.

For every key position ie. QB, RB, TE, WR etc. I have one back-up player who is 4.5 star rated and around the same stats as my main roster, so I don't really need doctors.

Most teams have a development squad of players as well as their first squad, to develop new talent once older players start to retire/lose stats due to aging, so most teams probably don't need to upgrade their doctors as they have replacement players for every position.

The only time you'd really need Level 20 doctors is if you have a very small squad of players with no backup for your main positions, or if you've got so much money coming in, an extra 45k isn't going to be a problem.

But when you're starting off, you should have a relatively large squad because your team won't have capped in their physicals yet, then as you play for longer you will start trimming your squad as players cap in speed and strength, and you'll start to find out who your main squad will be once the physical stats have maxed out.

I too don't have any doctors yet and am not planning to get some soon.

The only reason I can thnik of, that would make me hire doctors would be, if I have a key player for a national team.
(Or maybe if the number of occuring injuries increases a lot).

no doctor, no fitness hall - a player will heal 1 day per realy day.
no doctors, full fitness hall - 1.5 days per 1 real day.
20 docotrs, ful fitness hall - 2.5 days per 1 real day.

same as coaches to hire.

I agree with Trevor to a certain extent.

I also just have level 1 doctors and seem to get an injury every other week for a duration of approx 2 weeks. I also have backups, mainly youth players who will one day become starters (a lot of them are full BPOS but their skills are not as high as my starters).

But I am considering getting doctors soon.

I wouldn't recommend the OP getting doctors but for more established teams I think you have to weigh up the cost of doctors vs. the cost of backups. Level 20 doctors cost $45k a week and once your team is of a certain level it's cheaper to have the docs then paying the backups wages. If you had one backup for each important off/def position you're talking about at least 7 players(QB/WR/TE/DE/LB/CB/SF). If these players have wages of over $6.5k then you're better off having doctors.

It does depend though as obviously some of those players may one day be starters, but if you have players in your team purely to cover injuries then if their weekly wages are higher than $45k I think you're better off with docs.

It is subjective though and i'm sure there are lots of high division teams with no docs who just deal with injuries as they occur by either changing formation or buying a short term replacement.

Thats very generous of you

I can't see many managers paying $45k a week just to decrease the chances of a NT player getting injured. Although they might be slightly more inclined to do so if it was a NT player for their own national team

When you get to the stage that a injury costs you a regional cup final or a AFLC win, you'll want doctors.

I also didn't see the value in doctors when I have a low wage roster.

Another aspect to think of it training. Up to 28 days of injury is also alot of training points lost. Being able to heal 2.5x faster normal, get a player ready for the next week's training update.

Good point. Lost training is a compelling reason for upgrading docs.
