The scouts are winding down and it's getting crunch time on deciding the roster. I see several that will make the squad unless a last minute superstar shows up. But there are some areas where I'm having trouble deciding which is the best option.
I won't post names, just some of the stats and see what you guys think.

Is a Safety with 14 speed and 12 intelligence worth having? Even if all other key stats are 19? If speed and INT were higher, he'd be a no-brainer, so do I put too much stock in these two skills or should I move on.

We have (will have) 3 safeties for certain and maybe a 4th plus the above guy.

I would want safeties with 19 or 20 speed and only intel 16 and above. That is my take.

Do you think 4 safeties will be enough? The next option has good INT and speed, but 17 in key skills.

Also, will 6 LB's be enough?

Not sure where Mack Rogers stands, but he is 20 spd, 19 tackle, agil, vis and pos, with 16 foot. Not saying we need them all like that, but I would favor the high spd/intel guy with the 17 skills over the low intel/speed guy for sure. I picture the safety having to compete with WR's and TE's that are often 18 to 20 speed, rarely less and just seems that may be compounding issues with defenses trying to keep pace with offenses. Just my opinion

Also, I will be scouting decosto and bono tomorrow after training, if they have not been scouted yet

Mack Rogers is on the team and staying.

The defense may not be as worrisome as first thought. I was looking at stats only to determine the best players at each position. After marking those who were the primary contenders, I started questioning whether I was keeping enough at certain positions since unlike our normal teams, any training update could wipe out multiple players. When I started looking at positions, there are several that are maxed and well suited for multiple positions on defense. There was even a few that were borderline making the team that may have kept/got themselves on the team by being dual purposed.

For instance, the safety I mentioned above with low INT and SPD is also a 4.5* BPOS LB with 20 str on a team with a live owner. Doesn't get him on the team for certain, but increases his chances.

I like higher intel at LB too, even though in theory it's just the MLB. Havard Aagesen struggled at OLB with low intel. I moved him to DL a long time ago and he's 4.5* bpos at both, but he dominates the DL most games. He is the reason I look for at least 12 intel at OLB and 16 and above for MLB.

Also, let me know if I still need to scout those 2 FS's you had on my list. decosto and bono

Any scouting after the training update I will leave completely up to the manager. There's chance it could be useful and made use of and there's a chance it may not.

We all know that rosters are locked sometime Friday, but we don't know when. Past practices indicates it will be sometime in the first 12 hours most likely, which is night time for us. I start my rotation at work again in the morning. If I have to work over I won't get home until about 1.5 hours after training update and I'll have to leave to go back to work 7 hours later. Even if I don't work over, I won't have much time to make use of scouts and still get any sleep. I do plan to stay up long enough to use my scouts and if anybody is on at the time, I should be able to make use of theirs as well.

I will have the roster set before I go to bed tonight, and I'm sure I'll have some pickups left for last minute changes.

As for the safety situation, I just received info from a manager on a SF who has the same skills as the other 17 SF I mentioned above, but with higher str. So, I can add one or both if needed for backups.
