Hi y'all,
The more I try to understand how BPOS/rating is calculated, the more I get confused...
If s.o. can explain how a player's BPOS and rating is done, I would really apreciate !
For ex. I do not understand how a player that has skills like :
Catching : 2
Speed : 9
Strenght : 11
Stamina : 2
...
can be a 3.0 BPOS WR, when another guy with :
Catching : 7
Speed : 12
Strenght : 11
Stamina : 5
...is only rated 1.5* at WR....?!?!
Both guys have equivalent rating for teamwork, consistency, age, wage, energy...

Please explain !

Firstly, realize that BPOS and Match rating are two things entirely...

BPOS is all about how 'comfortable' a player is at a given position... so it only limited by talent. Match rating (seen on the stats page) is a combination of BPOS, Skills, TC, Stamina etc all together...

To add to the BPOS part, the only other factor other than talent is time. The more games the player has played at that position, the better chance he has to be at or near his maximum BPOS.

I'm really not talking bout game rating.
For a given player, on his profile, you can see his rating for all positions (by putting the mouse on the (?) besides his "Rating".
When looking at this, I have some players with 1.5* rating for positions where their skills are great (for ex, 1.5* WR, but skill like catching, speed... king of good) and others, with rating at WR at 3.0*, whereas catching, speed, etc... are low).
This is what I don't understand ! how can a player have good position rating, when his skills at this position are low, and others ahve low position rating, when their skills for this position are high...?!?!
Thanks !

Its pretty simple, the rating has nothing to do with how suited a player is for a position, but just a reflection of how much the player has played the given position...

Me too, its super confusing that the BPOS doesnt reflect the actual strenght of a player, makes it hard to figure out where the other teams are strong.. Of course you can look at the wages and calculate a "worst case scenario" player, but it takes so much more time compared to hattrick.org where you can asses a teams strenght alot faster thus making the game more user friendly (read noob-friendly )

Totally agree with you...
How do you find out which player of an opponent team you should put your best player against, if the rating doesn't reflect... the rating of the player ?
Weird...

BPOS IS NOT RATING!!!! BPOS IS JUST WHAT IT SAYS

as i have said before, BPOS is how 'comfortable' or 'experienced' a player is at a given position...

let take a real life example.... last season, McNabb (a QB) in wildcat situations takes the place of a WR... he has great catching, decent speed, but he was never going to be as good as an equivalently gifted WR, because....... he did not have the experience / training / comfort-ability of that position. BPOS is just that level of comfort.. the only way to look at a players true ability for the position is there match ratings, which include consistency etc, so you need to look over a few different games, and also there stats for given games...
