Ah ok so that is the point i was missing, the fact that talent has no say on where speed and strength will cap.

Whilst once again this is the arguement of real life and yes this is a game, i feel that strength is something that can be constantly improved, much easier than speed thats for sure. And from my own players i can see that strength caps ALOT sooner than speed does.

Whilst yeah i do like the feature as it creates randomness and not just all 20's, i still feel strength should cap later than speed as i think it can be worked on more than speed.

have to disagree...

Firstly, the numbers for speed and strength are just a scale.. there not really 'relative' to each other... after all what is the equivalent bench press to a 40 yard time?

as a scale, they both seem to have the same probability of capping at a given point (yes you may go through a period where it seems as if strength caps earlier, or vice versa, but it balances it out, the human mind just tries to develop patterns in anything)..

so the next point... is we assume that the cap are something like a bell curve running from 8 - 20, why should the mean of that be higher in strength? after all, if you increase the mean (move the average strength cap higher) your suggesting that there are a lot of average strength people, a few more with a little more strength, but also some with VERY VERY low strength.... if you argue that to be the case, could you not argue it should be the case for speed as well?

on a side note.... if you move the average cap for strength up... all you do is actually lower the strength bonus that 'beasts' get, you cant go over 20, so you end up saying that no player can get x over average... while you also devalue the higher strength becasue even more people can get it...

lets have a little thought experiment... say right now you want a nice strong o-line and you decide an average of 17-18 strength is good for that, given players around etc... if you get a player up to 20 strength he is a star guy... great stuff...
Now lets say you increase the average cap point for strength... now, you think to yourself, well I want a stronger than average line, so i now need to go for players in the 18-19 range, just to keep that step ahead of others... and your 20 strength guy isn't that much of a beast...

obviously those numbers are just examples... the fact is, strength and speed caps can be annoying, but there part of the game, and when you find a guy who keeps on going, he should be a big find.. not just a little above the ordinary...

I didn't say cap at a higher cap than it does now necessarily, all i said was i think it should cap higher than speed as it can be worked on more. But i do like the idea that even though the scales are the same they are still not equal.

Around a season ago we had the discussion:

while my players seemed to be speedy, they capped earlier in strength - MJD had it the other way round.

In the meantime my average starter strength is higher then speed - so its just pure luck, patience, taking the risk and carry more players in the roster simply training fitness and so on

so.... you would like to see speed cap sooner then? as in order to have, as you put it "i think it should cap higher than speed as it can be worked on more" you either need to have speed capping sooner on average, or strength capping later on average...

Yes speed capping sooner. But also i think there could be scope for the implementation of height and weight, but i think in the suggestions thread it has been ruled out?. Im not too bothered anymore anyway i got my answer of speed and strength capping randomly so it's all good thanks everyone who answered

A question related to Speed and Strength caps:

If I pick up a player of the Transfer list who has already capped one of these, will it immediately show up as a red star in the Training Details? Or will I find out it is capped once I try ti improve those skills?
