Randomness of Caps?

I have never really understood where a stat should cap, if they are supposed to cap at a certain point that is?. But in my training report today, one of my older guys from a while back just went to 19 speed and didn't cap, he is a 2* player, and then another of my guys, a 3.5* player just capped at 13 speed.

I have read before that there is like a percentage chance that they keep popping up or something, but the randomness is just killing me lol.

Speed and Strength are randomly capped and are not based on talent levels, unlike most of the other skills.

Edit* Intelligence can't be trained, so it is what it is. And any player can train their Stamina to 20.

Does this mean that every time a player levels in str/spd, there is a chance to cap, or does it mean that there is a pre-determined cap??

Well - isnt it somehow the same at the end?

Yes the cap is a pre-determined (according to Admins statement). For me as a manager every time a player levels in Str/Spe there is a chance to cap.

Once capped, speed and strength do not increase anymore.

You can still get the digit increases, so if a player caps Speed at 14.03 then you can still train him to 14.99, which will result in him taking a little bit longer before dropping in skills when he gets old.

I haven't tried it out, but I have been told by others that this is indeed the case.

This is a very nasty feature of this game, you can spend a huge amount on a player with promissing talent and he turns to be good for position of waterboy in the team, just 2 season and has both fitness caps below 15 and the value drops down in insane way.

yep.... but thats also part of the fun... what do you risk on a high talent, knowing he may cap...

thats also why high talent guys with high levels of physical skills command multiple million dollar deals...

This is one of the management decisions everybody has to make:

-> buy a lot of 4,5BPOS player for low money and at least a few will turn out to be fitness beast - on the other hand, they will always only have max 4,5 BPOS

or

-> spend a lot of $$$ for a few 5BPOS player and hope that at least one survives the "cap-trap" - > reward: a beast player

I like this feature.

Taken Directly from the FAQ (answers the question lol)

6. What about the player's talent. How does that effect the training?
Talent has no direct influence on training as such. It does however limit how high a player can reach in his skills. If a player has talent;
1 then his maximum is 11
2 then his maximum is 12
3 then his maximum is 13
4 then his maximum is 14
5 then his maximum is 15
6 then his maximum is 16
7 then his maximum is 17
8 then his maximum is 18
9 then his maximum is 19
10 then his maximum is 20

The only 3 exceptions to this rule are speed, strength and stamina. Speed and strength are limited by a hidden maximum value (different for each player) that represents the maximum value player can reach even if he trains with weights each and every day. Stamina is not limited at all, and with extensive physical (fittness) training every player can reach 20 in stamina.
7. Is it possible for a player to go above his maximum?
It is possible, it's just that much harder for the player to achieve that.
If a player is at his maximum then he has 1 in 3 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 1 then he has 1 in 5 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 2 then he has 1 in 10 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 3 then he has 1 in 20 chance to gain a point/level.
It is impossible for a player to go more than 4 above his maximum.
