jesper I wasn't saying my players are superior I was asking how to defend against an opponent who does nothing but pass when my teams players are at worst only slightly inferior.

I have lost a few games like this and thought I'd use the ask for help section to ask for help. Help which so far hasn't arrived as my post seems to have been side-tracked somewhat

I would love to be able to help but I think we are all in the same situation and it is a result of lack of skill descriptions, so we could at least base our training on something instead of fumbling in the dark. The other thing is that we don't know how passing plays are stopped, since there is no defensive description on the plays that doesn't have broken tackles.

Personally I have started to train my entire group of defensive backs in tackling to see if that helps with the broken tackles, but I still have to figure out how to stop those short to medium passes, that keeps the drives alive through first downs.

It seems to be very difficult to find out how to stop the pass, but I guess iMan24 got the best advice so far. We have to play more defensive backs.

I've tried doubling up the corners, still gave away approx 50% completion,

added extra safety, tho put him in middle and opponent played attack flanks, and got hammered!

Would try extra dl's but just been hit by injury there so was just hoping this new defensive system would help. Gambled on pass every down called it correctly but still lost heavily which was why I was so aghast!

The following statement is based on the players salary and that has been used as indication of their skill level.

The two corner backs you used against me seem to be a bit on the weak side of players and could probably benefit from increasing their main skills. I assume that they got good fitness skills, since you have had them for quite some time and with the rest of the skills being low that must mean you have been training fitness.

Personally I think tackling is the number 1 skill on defense, so that is what I focus on now that I got full facilities and coaches.

I've been trying to figure out pass defense the last few weeks and have been using most of my scouts to check players on the teams that are doing well.
What I've found is surpringsly wide variations in skills such as positioning, tackling, agility and speed etc all things a good DB should need (but hey this G_I!!!). These variations have made it difficult to reach any firm conclusions so I would suggest you go down the same path of scouting and see for yourself what you think is happening with pass defense.
Some things I know for sure are that:
High BPOS is vital.
Ditto team chemistry and energy.
Alot of good defenders have high experience but I don't know if this a chicken and an egg situation ie they have high exp because they are good and have therefore played alot of games or if exp genuinely helps them to be better players?
I'm tending toward the idea that speed seems to be more important than I'd previously thought although I'm still not sure about this.
Doubling up players does not improve things.
Adding more DBs - I'm not convinced about this - there might be some improvement but it will not stop a real good pass attack.
I think that more pressure on the QB from DEs and OLBs may have more effect than more DBs - and I think speed is a factor in the pass rush. But I'm still not conclusively sure about this because a good O line is a big factor here too.
Sorry lots of 'maybes' there but hopefully some things to think about!

maybe a lot of maybes but plenty to think about and consider thanx very much.

Have put experience and team chemistry into my team selection spreadsheet. I am worried that bpos has a bigger effect than I hoped as I only discovered last week that the bpos was linked to talent the way it is. Means that I've given vital experience to players who maybe aren't up to scratch.

Imho BPOS is the most important factor.
Admin have said in the past it acts like another primary skill.
However, it costs nothing in wage terms!

Your cup match last year showed that

Division of Hell - Season 4
3.7 Season 6
2.3 Season 8
Regional Cup Winners - Season 8
TD Season 9
IV.25 Season 26

actually the admins also have said that BPOS importance diminishes as your skill goes up.

3 CB against the doubles (2 wr on one side, TE and wr on the other side) formation works well if you place 2 CB on the 2 WR side.

im also not so convinced that speed is what makes a DE
my agility de usually performs better than my speed de even though the speed de is better in pretty all categories other than FW and AGI
