wage is based on a players highest primary skill at the start of the season.

if he has a low wage it prob means his tackling (for example) was quite low at the start of the season. it may have been trained up since then, but wage increases only happen at end of the season (or tomorrow i think)

the talent star rating is what allows a player to train to a higher level in non physical skills i.e;
