Calm down ladies...

Now someone mathcraft me the projected earnings of the Club shop to find out whether it's a worthwhile investment option over continuous expansion of a stadium.

It will still be better to increase stadium at first. I'm working on the sums, but it isn't even close, shop only becomes as profitable once you have add-ons.

I have just calculated that if i build a club shop with two upgrades then it will begin making money after only 25 weeks. I currently have 1 upgrade but when i have gotted number two i will be heading for more stadium capacity.

What's your basic earnings with level 1 and level 2 Club Shop?

Club shop without upgrade: 7,500 x 1,7 (as i am 7 spots over the last place and i expext to stay there) = 12,750 x 1,05 (as i after my current stadings in the league will win almost every game) = 13,387.5 x 0,8 (as i am 2 leagues under the top division) = 10,710 (wich is the earnings ever week) - 3,000 (wich is the maintenanece every week) = 7,710$ If you then want to find out how long time it will take before you have earned money then you just have to take the amount of money that it has costed in then first level 350,000 : 7,710 = 45 weeks.
In the next levels you have to pay 5,000 to upgrade each time and the basic earnings and maintenance is like this: 12,500 - 5,000, 17,500 - 7,000, 22,500 - 9,000, 27,500 - 11,000. After my calculations then the best level for me will be with 2 upgrades.

Thanks for sharing the calculations.
This is assuming that a club shop earns the same amount for weeks with home games or away games. Is that correct?
I've played other games where home or away games is a big factor in merchandise sales.

45 weeks?!
Exec Seats pay for themselves in about half of that. I will have a look at working out exact numbers at work tomorrow (I don't have excel on my home laptop).

CLUB SHOP
Initial cost = $350,000
Maintenance = $3,000
Earnings = $7,500
*Income decreases 10% for each division below top division
* Income increases 10% every position above last in league
* Income increases by 5-10% for a win
* Income increases or decreases 0-5% each week to simulate economy

I am in the 3rd Division. So take $7,500 as income for Top Division and reduce by 10% for 2nd Div ($6,750) and again by 10% to give 3rd Division figure = $6,075.
Now multiply this income figure by 10% to the power of 9 – 9 places above last place in the division, this assumes every game is won = $15,916.15
Then add another 10% for winning this week’s game = $17,507.76
Then say it’s a good week for the economy, we’ll add 5% = $18,383.15
To cover the initial investment of $350,000, in perfect circumstances, this would take 19.04 weeks

With Upgrade 1
Initial Cost = $400,000
Maintenance = $5,000
Earnings = $12,500
*Income decreases 10% for each division below top division
* Income increases 10% every position above last in league
* Income increases by 5-10% for a win
* Income increases or decreases 0-5% each week to simulate economy

$12,500 as income for Top Division and reduce by 10% for 2nd Div ($11,250) and again by 10% to give 3rd Division figure = $10,125.
Now multiply this income figure by 10% to the power of 9 – 9 places above last place in the division, this assumes every game is won = $26,526.91
Then add another 10% for winning this week’s game = $29,179.60
Then say it’s a good week for the economy, we’ll add 5% = $30,638.58
To cover the initial investment of $400,000, in perfect circumstances, this would take 13.06 weeks

SEATS
I’m going to use 1,000 seats as a benchmark for these calculations, as doing it on 1 seat is a bit pointless.
Initial Cost for 1000 seats:
Basic Seats = $250,000 / Exec Boxes = $400,000 / VIP Boxes = $700,000
Maintenance per seat:
Basic Seats = $2 / Exec Boxes = $4 / VIP Boxes = $7
Income per seat:
Basic Seats = $30 / Exec Boxes = $70 / VIP Boxes = $120

Attendance is based on a Basic Attendance of 60,000 for the top division, reducing by 6,000 for each division below the top. I’m in Div 3, so my basic attendance is 48,000 – well above anyone’s capacity right now.

Income on 1,000 seats = $28 ($30-$2) x 1000 = $28,000
Initial cost = $250,000
Weeks to recover initial cost = 8.93 weeks

Income on 1,000 Exec Boxes = $66 ($70-$4) x 1000 = $66,000
Initial cost = $400,000
Weeks to recover initial cost = 6.06 weeks

Income on 1,000 VIP Boxes = $113 ($120-$7) x 1000 = $113,000
Initial cost = $700,000
Weeks to recover initial cost = 6.19 weeks

Now these assume that every seat is filled.
With the basic attendance multiplier being far higher than anyone’s capacity, these figures are most relevant at the current time. There is no need to take into account any increases due as a result of team form, being positioned above the bottom place in a division or decreases due to weather.
However if you want, you can reduce the usage of seats significantly and still get an idea of how quickly your initial investment in seats will be recovered.

Say you only got 50% attendance. For every 500 seats, exec boxes or VIP boxes you buy, only half of them are filled.
Basic seats
Initial cost of 1,000 seats = $250,000
Income based on 500 seats used = $13,000 ($15,000 income minus $2,000 maintenance on 1,000 seats)
Weeks to cover cost = 19.23
Exec Boxes
Initial cost of 1,000 exec boxes = $400,000
Income based on 500 exec boxes used = $31,000 ($35,000 income minus $4,000 maintenance on 1,000 seats)
Weeks to cover cost = 12.90

VIP Boxes
Initial cost of 1,000 VIP boxes = $700,000
Income based on 500 VIP boxes used = $53,000 ($60,000 income minus $7,000 maintenance on 1,000 seats)
Weeks to cover cost = 13.21

Note that these figures are based on only 50% usage of stadium capacity, and do not take into account any increases from team performance, league position, or any decrease due to weather conditions. I have also not taken into account the additional income that would come from hosting friendly matches, because those with Club Shops could conceivably hit the jackpot every week and play away games at big stadiums each week.
50% attendance is a huge drop, and yet the figures above show that Executive Boxes, even at 50% usage, are still far more profitable that a Club Shop operating in perfect conditions.

It helps that 1000 Exec boxes costs the same as Shop + upgrade. The $400,000 outgoings will pay dividends much quicker with the seating.

Now hopefully I've calculated all of these correctly, but I'd be happy to revisit if anything thinks I've made a mistake at any point. I was a bit unsure whether the 10% increase on league position was accumulative or not (ie. adding 10% 9 times is different to adding 90%), but I used the same formula consistently so it shouldn't really affect the final comparitive figures.

Excellent analysis sir. It has been both cut and Pasted to the GI bible
