Wow, you managed to stop a really good offense, I might have to try that formation, but I might have to put some D linebackers at corner back.

I wish i could, but I'm just going to rely on my two terrible safeties to do the job

Can somebody please tell me how you set up your defense against an opponent who passes all the time (over 90%).

I tried putting 2 cornerbacks on each wr this week and still gave up 380yards against the throw.

Any ideas?

2 double cornerbacks will not help you IMO. Pass tacklers are CB, LB and SF, you need to put in as many of them as you can.

How about
DE NT DE
OLB MLB OLB
CB FS SS FS CB

also called 3-3-5

i might have to disagree with your statement about using double corners to a side. i used a 3 CB on the broncos in my cup game and it worked well enough to hold them to 2 tds and 30% completion. half of the 300 yards came on 2 plays

Hm, to be sure you should play another match where you play with 1 CB each side against the Broncos again. This would be the first time I see double positions helping, except the MLB!

Has anyone tried this defense:
DT DT
LBO LBM LBM LBM LBO
CB FS FS CB
How did it do against pass and the run?

I tried it:
1)http://www.grid-iron.org/index.php?page=match&match_id=194341&action=stats

2)http://www.grid-iron.org/index.php?page=match&match_id=216984&action=stats

I can't really make comparisons of it to anything else because of the players I tried it with, but the whole in the middle was obvious when the Dawgs ran, thankfully with a good MLB, that problem might be fixed entirely.

I was thinking of 2xDT rather than 2xDE, that way no hole in the middle.
You're right comparisons are very difficult to judge.

Heres another interesting recent thread about defending:
http://grid-iron.org/index.php?page=community&subpage=viewt&t=5121&start=20

Until recently the toughest defence I played against used 3DL, 5LB, 1FS and 2CB (Badgers). This pretty much shutdown my double TE passing attack.

Then against Mirastar in the cup my passing was again shutdown.
He played 3DL, 3LB, 3FS and 2CB. I passed for considerbale yardage but could only get one big TD play.

So 2 very different formations were effective against the same offense formation pass attack. As has been said elsewhere maybe it's the defending players that matter more than the formation?

The 2DT, 5LB, 2FS and 2CB defence I suggested is a hybrid between the two defences described above. I think 2DT would work better than 2DE as DTs seem better against the run and no DEs means more QB pressure from the LBs. Note that in a 5LB defence there is considerable QB pressure from the MLBs as well as the OLBs.
I'm not sure I have 5 LBs good enough to try this against a good team yet though.

I think I will go some fancy pass defense strategy against the Badgers I got the personnel to do it, it's just the matter of what strategy to pick to stop this freaking passing attack...
