I think positioning might be important as well, as a TE you're often lodged in between DL and secondary and have to be able to get enough space to be open for a pass.

That is true, footwork is also important because the TE has to be able to run good routes in order to get open for a pass. Their really is no right way to train a TE, since we don't have any idea what a TE does in this game.

so.... is 17 speed, 17 strength, 18 consistency, 18 teamwork, 12 intelligence, and 4.5 talent a good start then? lol

It's not the yellow part of the egg (as we'd say in Germany) but it's alright until you can find someone better!

This is not good for a TE, you should sell him to me

Personally with that speed and strength combo I think he'd be a good DE. Nothing better than someone with the strength to get by the O-line and the speed to still get to the QB in time.

Yeah, he is just awful, but I will be a nice person and take him off your hands after you buy him.

Because TE is a very important position in this game, because he usually gets thrown to the most.

to me tight ends are prob the most important position for a well trained player.

they're the most consistent point of attack in the pass game, and admins have previously commented that they play a solid role in run blocking also.

primary skills wise, id say you need to concentrate on their catching first as this seems to have the biggest in game effect, but also make sure the players is naturally very strong as they need to match up to your linemen else they'll be a massive weak link in a run game due to the suspected zonal nature of the game engine.

a good tip is to often scout the players on the top teams for ideas/rough guidelines for successful builds.
