For anyone who has FG's set inside 40 yards, you'll have to be at the 23 or closer for a FG to be kicked.

What was your FG setting? From there you'd be looking at a 51 yard FG, and I doubt they'd have you punt from there.

That's probably why most teams have been going for it on 4th no matter what down it is.

That I agree with. I've run the ball on 4th and 9 from the 35 in the past, it would be much better to attempt to pass.

I've also gotten lucky and converted long 3rd and 4th downs running the ball.

No, if the endzone is 40 or less yards away then the QB decides to rush or pass.
