Two Teams are tied at the end of Season:

Team A: PCT: 10-8 PF: 418 PA: 268
Team B: PCT: 10-8 PF: 469 PA: 268

Team A beat Team B twice - who gets promoted, so what are the tiebreakers?

Thanks

Team B, it has better points difference. If this is the same, then number of TD's.

Should be team A in my opinion if he beat team B twice in head to head, now if they split wins, then team B should win in points.

Well - i think also Team B should because of the better H2H result, but well it isn´t - maybe sometime in the future.

Thanks to all and GI Admin to make this clear.

I think it should be h2h too, however the coding for that is probably more difficult.

I know in American sports leagues, H2H is often the first decider for seeding. How does it work in other places?

Well - makers of GI are european based i assume - in european soccer leagues for example also ties are resolved by looking first into overall difference of goals scored and allowed - H2H is not that common to resolve ties in real soccer leagues over here in europe

Well that sucks for you. This needs to be changed because I know alot of people here play their young players against bots which would result in less td's scored.....so if you play youth against bot teams for example to have them gain experience and only score 50 points and another person in your league plays his starters the whole season thru and scores 80 points against bots, you lose.

This part of the game should be changed because this is not how winning the division is decided in Tackle FOOTBALL. (this is not a pansey shin kicking league).

Totally agree Sal. This needs to be changed to H2H because as you've explained the current system inhibits the development of young players which will be bad for this game in the long run.Last edited on 2009-04-21 at 17:20

This is how tiebreakers are decided in football;

The First Tiebreaker
Step 1:
The first tiebreaker compares head-to-head match-ups during the regular season between the pertinent teams. Whichever team won the head-to-head match-up (or has the best head-to-head percentage if more than two teams are involved) wins the tiebreaker.
The Second Tiebreaker
Step 1:
The second tiebreaker involves the best record within the team's division, or the best record within the conference if the teams come from different divisions.
The Third Tiebreaker
Step 1:
The third tiebreaker uses the best win percentage in games against the same foe. For example, if the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants reach the third tiebreaker, and both played the Redskins, Cowboys, 49ers and Seahawks in the same season, the tiebreaker would go to whichever of them had the best record against those four teams.
The Fourth Tiebreaker
Step 1:
The fourth tiebreaker goes to whoever has the best win percentage against foes within the conference. This is the second tiebreaker for wild-card teams coming from different divisions.
The Fifth and Sixth Tiebreakers
Step 1:
The fifth tiebreaker comes from strength of victory; the difference in point margin between each team and the foes they played. The sixth tiebreaker comes from strength of schedule--whichever team had the "tougher" list of opponents, as determined by the draft rankings from the previous season.
The Seventh and Eighth Tiebreakers
Step 1:
The next two steps depend on each team's combined ranking in points scored and points allowed (the more points scored and the fewer points allowed, the higher the ranking). The seventh tiebreaker compares the ranks of conference teams, while the eighth tiebreaker compares the ranks of all NFL teams.
The Last Four Tiebreakers
Step 1:
Tiebreakers nine through eleven compare net points scored in specific games (net points are the difference between points scored and points allowed in each game). The ninth tiebreaker compares net points scored in common games, the tenth compares net points scored in all games, and the eleventh compares net touchdowns scored in all games. If the teams are still tied after all these steps, then a coin toss serves as the twelfth and final tiebreaker.
