Indeed, that does make sense.

I have just had a lot more success with defending oppositions TE's since I put my best OLB's there. Coincidence, maybe.

what do you look for in your OLB?
i try to get the ones with at high speed with good positioning and agility.
is footwork important?

Linebackers for me:

Intelligence > Fitness > Tactical > Tackling.

Maybe not in that order, but those skills

I look for Intelligence first when I am purchasing a LB. If it is high enough (Green), I will check his other skills.

Seeing as I have a 20 Fitness coach with fully upgraded fitness centre and a 20 tactical coach, I have been training my Linebackers on Fitness and/or tactical pending on their skills. Meaning, I tend to look for defensive players with high enough tackling for the short term.

Hope this helps.

indeed it does
i dont have the luxury of having a 20 coach so i find the ones with good intel and good fitness.

Here is my best Linebacker:

Positioning 9 Tackling 7 Punting 1
Vision 10 Blocking 3 Speed 14
Intelligence 18 Passing 4 Strength 11
Footwork 4 Catching 2 Agility 3

OTHER
Teamwork 14 Consistency 11

His Consistency and Teamwork sucks for my liking, but I like him so that's okai

ouch, got burnt in passing again in my cup match... reckon i did fairly well though with my D planning this time, just that they had much superior players imo.

pretty surprised to see sacks this time around. first time i've seen any in a game! i'm bummed my rushing got stuffed though... probably should have rushed to the sides more?

In regards to rushing direction I just tend to let the QB decide.

But then my QB does have 20 Intelligence and 20 Consistency

I noticed a lot of my games that I play the other team scores on the long ball. It was driving me nuts. I have a solid front line and backs so I play around with my cb,ss, and fs. So far and for me that is I noticed a huge drop in being beaten on the long balls when I have a cb on each wr and a fs to support each cb. This always leaves the middle open but I really change up my open field to match a team I'm playing that week.

This is my thoughts to the first post as I don't have time to read five pages of notes from others.

yeah i did have 2 FS covering my CBs, but still got burnt pretty bad! probably should've had 2 LOLBs on the TE as well, instead of 2 LBMs seeing they played HB/C and FB/R!

i got a dilemma at FS.
i have player A
Positioning 4 Tackling 4 Punting 1
Vision 4 Blocking 1 Speed 16
Intelligence 12 Passing 4 Strength 10
Footwork 1 Catching 5 Agility 1
Carrying 4 Kicking 1 Stamina 2

player b
Positioning 2 Tackling 3 Punting 4
Vision 2 Blocking 5 Speed 15
Intelligence 10 Passing 3 Strength 13
Footwork 4 Catching 4 Agility 3
Carrying 2 Kicking 3 Stamina 2

who do i play
player B has 2 star for safety, i dont know how many stars for safety player A has but he has safety as a adequate
the team i play against has a somewhat average passing game
