You're right about that, I will be the new Dan Snyder next season

Overpaying for players that never play as well as they did with their old team and still help you finish at the bottom of the division?

Yup, that's exactly what I mean. More money than sense
It's the odd thing about being a supporter of a team. You might think they make the dumbest decisions in the world, have no faith in their future plans (if they even have any) and know that they're not going to be top class contenders, yet you still scream your lungs out for them and wear their jerseys with pride. Ain't life funny

And thanks Admin, good to hear

karma99: I know what you mean, being a raiders fan is the same only more extreme

For the subject I would say that you should do what is right for you, some buy good old players and win now, others have faith in the youth...

You also have moderate philosophies. I pretty much never look at a player over 19 on the transfer wire. Yeah, I buying a raw product, but I'm also getting someone that will be with the team for the long haul. He's trainable and he's less unknown than the youth player. Of course, it's still smart to keep pulling in your own youth as well. At this phase of the game, I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance now to have the best team possible in a few seasons.

Every team that gets rid of Marty Ball is dumb.

Question, when you guys see a player with 20 consistency, do you care what his talent score is if he's young?

I'm just wondering because I have a lot of young guys with great consistency but low talent ratings. I'm wondering if I should dump these guys on the market while talent is still a hidden attribute.

In other news I finally have a true 5 star talent player. Unfortunately he is not too good and has only 6 teamwork. I did get lucky with the youth pull though and managed a 4.5 star talent 16 year old with 13 teamwork.

I'm just wondering what you guys think of having a high teamwork, low talent player. It seems to me that the hypothesis of positional rating based on talent makes sense. Technically, a guy with 2 stars talent is never going to be at the level of a guy with 4-5 stars.

Honestly, there are so many attributes that can't be changed (many of which are poorly defined or not understood at all) and so many different ways to modify how many training points a player gets that I'm too confused about everything to have any idea what to think.

I guess the factors you'd have to take into account are how many points you're going to get from coaches and training hall, talent, initial points in attributes, values of unchangeable attributes, and how soon you need him to be productive. In other words, it's so dependent on so many things that I don't believe any one answer works in every situation.

Since I won't have a truly competitive team until sometime in late 2010 (assuming I don't fall over dead, the game is still around, I don't get bored and leave, an asteroid hasn't collided with the earth, etc.), teamwork would be a lower consideration for me. I'll have stadium, training hall and coaches up to the point that 6-8 points less from Teamwork would be a smaller consideration for me. I'd like to have those points, of course, but everything's a trade-off.

Right now I'm looking for consistent players, regardless of talent, to fill starting roles. If they have good ratings and are consistent, I feel like the short term gain will be worth the possible long term loss with their low talent. For young players, I'm looking primarily at talent and teamwork, but if they have consistency then that makes it even more likely I'll keep them.
