Now that the most overrated coach in the history of the National Football League is out, who's in?

I read Pete Carroll is at the top of Stan Kroenke's wish list. I'm not sure if Stan knows how contracts work.

Jim Harbaugh???
I do not be surprised if Harbaugh would look Rams young QB and the high reserves and say: why not. Competition-hungry type without winning the Super Bowl gnaw guaranteed - and it's bigger than the lure of money. And of course the opportunity to show cock Niners bosses twice a year.

I don't see Harbaugh jumping from Michigan anytime soon if ever. He has proven himself in the pros. He is back coaching where he went to college. Top coaches in good college programs can cement themselves in a good job for decades.

I can't say that I can see anyone that is available right now that jumps out at me as a lead candidate.

Harbaugh is coaching at his alma mater and doing a great job. Plus, he hasnt won anything yet. I dont think he is interested. Too early to go back to the nfl burning bridges with his dream college job

McDaniels could be an interesting hire. I'm not a Goff fan but if he is this could be a good place for him, big market with a presumably long leash from an owner who was very patient with Jeff.

Mike Shanahan could be interested too, and is a catchy name for an owner who likes it.

Anyway it's too early to tell

No on Harbaugh, he is at his dream job now, his alma mater. No way he leaves.

McDaniels could be an interesting hire, but doubt he's interested in this one. He will hold out for a better gig.

Mike Shanahan? Um no, maybe Kyle Shanahan, I think he would have a decent shot and certainly would change the offensive woes. He is third on my list of potentials.

The top 2 candidates, in my opinion:
David Shaw - Stanford, has been considered before, runs a pro style offense and this gig would allow for him to stay in California.
Darrell Bevell - Seahawks OC, I think he would be a great fit.

Rumour mill has Harbaugh as strong candidate but there is always a lot of smoke and mirrors before an appointment is made.

As the others have said, I just don't see Harbaugh leaving Michigan any time soon without proving his worth first and winning them something (and even then he might not; he may want to be the Nick Saban of Michigan football)

The problem with the college-to-NFL transition is most coaches won't be afforded the degree of autonomy they enjoy at a college if they go to an NFL team. Harbaugh was one half of a dysfunctional coach-GM relationship in San Francisco. That would give me pause as an owner.

I get the feeling McDaniels is waiting for Belichick to retire or die.

I have that feeling also. And I think Pat's management have that feeling also.
