I'm going off the notes I had from last season when I was NT coach. At that time, both QB's had footwork in single digits and Crespo's was only 2 pts higher than Phipps. Even then, Crespo played much better than Phipps. So I'm not going to be convinced by their current skills that footwork is the difference maker.

There is no doubt on paper, Phipps should be slightly better. In this game, it could just be randomness and Phipps has just been extremely unlucky. Think of all the random factors that come into play on every play. Pass called, OL vs DL chance#1 for pressure, QB vs blitzer to see if there is pressure chance#2, pass play confirmed now we go to zone match up of receiver selected vs defender chance #3, needs to beat 2 defenders chance #4 and #5. Every one of those players also had a roll for consistency for start game rating (all chances to do a bit better or a bit worse, unless they are 20 con). Since primary skills are the most important, I find it hard to believe footwork would be the root cause. Phipps streak of bad luck in game outcomes, could just be a bad run of randomness no different than one team getting a rash of injuries or interceptions, while another team gets none.

This is why I suspect there may be a hidden "Intangibles" stat what works with "Consistency" in the game engine. Some players have "IT" and some don't.

Either this, which I don't think so OR the entire range of consistencies between all starters on both teams is enough to just douse on Phipps when he starts and not so much for Crespo. I'm inclined to think Phipps is still the better QB. I thought for a long time that 19 or 20 intel was obviously better than 16 or 17, but now after many seasons of tracking players, maybe just anything 16-20 is virtually the same. If I were smarter myself, I'd design my own game and make it just like I would want it to be

What happens with Jarred Lehr if he goes unclaimed? I'm almost thinking of bidding $1k on him to keep him on the NT if we would lose him. Can we keep claiming him for $1k and then cutting him before salary updates to keep him on team USA?

I suppose he would retire. I might pick him up for my team though

Have at him. I don't want his salary, I just don't want to weaken our squad.

Our squad is pretty strong, last weeks' game was some kind of weird GI crap going on. I looked at everyone and have only found one player that may warrant getting replaced. I may even go with the same QB again, though I still scratch my head at his completion percentage. Then I thought about it and my own QB has had games like that for the German NT. Assmus is generally averaging around 60% for my team, but try to explain a couple of his performances over the last year (I think 38% in one game and definitely one or two in the 40's). There is no explanation other than randomness and having been a big fan of Risk all these years, I accept that explanation

Well done gatr, another win over my boys for you today, all but cementing what was already a pretty certain top 2. No ability on D to stop you guys today at all, and with the lack of Portuguese teams that's only gonna get worse for them going forward.

I made a few tweaks to team USA's lineup, seemed to work well. Seemed like the Moniz and Debord show there for a good portion of the game. I told Moniz to drop a few passes if it was close. Good game

Well done! Now comes the hard part!

It was good to see a couple of former Bad Company players kicking it around in this game.

Christian Van Moeseke had a couple of tackles (and a bad missed tackle) for Belgium, and Alexander Partin had a couple of nice TD's for the US.
