I had to go look at this stats. He looks on track to have his best season since his rookie season. Maybe I missed his good play since the defense as a whole has been a train wreck.

him and kiko are the only ones that are good, i hear wake is playing well too at least at rushing the passer but hes getting less than 20 snaps per game

I'm liking Kiko. He receives some criticism but is mostly undeserved imho. he is one of the keepers.

Tannehill on the other hand is having a worrisome regression in the last two games, that's something you wouldnt expect after working with a QB guru.

Wow, really? This guy, Tannehill, caught you completely off guard? Worrisome regression? It's been 5 years now of worrisome play, it's called inconsistency. I keep hoping that he strings together a couple of complete games, but he can't even do it for one complete game. Two weeks ago he reeled everyone back in again with a superman 2nd half performance and then you get Cleveland (where in his own words, 'they deserved to lose', then you get this past Thursday beauty of a performance. Sorry, but I completely expected this result, even though I still kind of root for him to prove me wrong

At some point it becomes obvious that a player is a problem. I think the Dolphins are near that point if not at the point of clarity.

1. Inconsistency - check.
2. Change the coaching staff a couple times - check.
3. Bring in the player's college coach - check.
4. Bring in multiple QB position trainers - check.
5. Build around the player with decent players that played elsewhere at a high level. - check

At the point where you've done all of that, maybe it's best to not pick a QB based on arm strength and height anymore. Maybe it's about character, work ethic and smarts.

Already did the numbers in another post, but when you've got everything else stacked in your favor and you're still wildly inconsistent, nowhere else to look. I don't know that I'd have gone into this season with him, but I can't say I blame the team for doing it.

Perhaps if they hadn't traded Drew Brees they'd have won a Super Bowl by now.

The Chargers traded Brees. We were twice in a position to pick him (draft, when he was let go by the Chargers) but always failed to do so. That's ancient history anyway.

Regarding Tannehill, I guess the problem is football smarts. Character and work ethic are above average to good imho.

Obviously, you're right. I must be smoking something today.

Perhaps there was so much Brees/Miami chatter at the time of the trade that I had that in my head. Doesn't make it any more accurate.

Thanks for the clarity

http://dailydolphin.blog.mypalmbeachpost.com/2016/10/06/miami-dolphins-targeted-derrick-henry-in-draft-landed-kenyan-drake/

I find it curious that we talked about it extensively here, and Gase gave some insights on his view about Henry. Annd he really was considered by the Phins.
We'll see what he does (if and when he plays) in a couple of days. Quite honestly the shiftiness part, still I dont see it.

"Surprizing shiftiness," huge difference.

For me, I didn't think he had much either. In college, he was just employed to run straight and power over people. In the NFL you gotta move laterally also. So he does that now. Which he displayed in some preseason games. He'll never be known for being a serious cutter, but he can do it now.

I mentioned the same things (as Gase) in the thread earlier. But the article has confirmed most of my opinions within this thread about the situation regards the draft.

I remember you were on the same page as the article

Regarding shiftiness in the preseason I think it has been overblown. in preseason you play against base defense loaded with backups and JAGS, you have more time to be shifty, holes are bigger and more than everything they arent filled at the same speed. Tackling is also subpar, usually. That's why I thought and still think it wont translate to the pros. Last week he literally ran into Vince Wilfork and was stopped with a arm. Vince Wilfork can probably stop a truck with a arm, but you should be able to avoid him.

i am very satisfied with howard through his experience so far this season and am very sad he got hurt this week in practice. he was very promising for the fins in the games he played. he will be back in 3-6 weeks and remind the rest of those who doubted his abilities why the dolphins made the right choice to go corner in round 2. especially seeing how bad maxwell has been and lippett was no star against aj green. mccain and howard are the two bright stars in a very very shitty corner group. drake has shown some promise so far this season even though he has not had much usage although his yards per carry was pretty good against the browns(so is everyone else's who faces the browns). as the season progresses we will see much more of him.

Henry = 7 carries for 54 yards. And versus first teamers this time. Nothing happening on the Dolphins side of their backfield. Although Tannehill threw another 2 interceptions again. His regression is killing the team. And all the unexplained holes in the defense.
