Week 1 - 23.01.2014[b/]


Group A

Another season and new hopes for the Irish team to reach once again the World Cup.But it seems that this season will be the same as the last ones.This time , Poland crushed them , on theyr own field , after a very good performance from the Polish side , with a magnificent offence , finish with a 66.7 PCT from theyr QB , and a very good defence , with 4 pick ups and 1 sack for a 49 points difference.I think the defence was the main problem for the Ireland in this game.Maybe next game will be different.Next week they travel to Hungary.Poland will face Serbia at home , in the game for the leaders of the group.

Match of the Week in Serbia vs Hungary.But the end of the game was unfortunate for the hungarians , once again they lost the game in the overtime.I don't think i saw a game of the Hungary in which they won in the overtime.They seems to be under some curse.For the serbian this victory is a reason to be happy.They start the World Cup Qualification with a victory against a very powerfull team.Good offence and a decent defence.Next week they need to be more good if they want to beat the leaders of the group , Poland.For Hungary on paper is a much easy game , but Ireland could surprise them.

Group B

Pretty weak match between two neighbors , Sweden and Finland.Pretty much the same procentage for theyr QB and exactly the same stats in defence for both teams.Two teams very much different in my opinion.On one side we have the young team Sweden , on the other side we have the experient team , Finland.But in the end it was a matter of luck , which was proved to be on the Finland side for this game.Time is not lost for Sweden.They have 5 matches to go.Next week they travel to Russia.Finland host the World Champions , Spain , and they hope to get revenge for the last year semi-final.

Big surprise today in Spain.After the title won last year , the Spain NT return to theyr own supporters to show them how they've won the World Cup.But Russia travel to Spain , to check if they are only human.And surprise-surprise , they are.Last year was a perfect qualification group for Spain.This year the season has started very badly.Spanish QB was awfull so the game was a total bust for them.Maybe it was just an accident , but this thing we'll see in the upcoming weeks.Leader of the group is Russia , followed by Finland.Sweden is 3rd , and Spain is last after this week shock.

Group C

First match from World Cup take place in Oceania , between New Zeeland and Denmark.Danish after a weak season , without a presence at World Cup , they started very well , but many people expected a much big win over an old team of New Zeeland.But old is gold , as always.With age come the experience so New Zeeland was a hard team to beat.Both teams split the match , 1st and the 4th quarter for New Zeeland , the middle for the scandinavian team.In the end when the points where counted , Denmark comes with +7 and win the game.Next week New Zeeland travels all the way to Brazil , as Denmark host Croatia.

Croatia and Brazil take a fight in the other match of the Group C.After 2 years when they missed the World Cup , the brazilians want this year to qualify again.With a new coach in the lead , they will fight with Denmark and New Zeeland for the first two place of the group.I think all three teams have chances , but in the end it will a matter of inspiration.In the other side we have a Croatia , that doesn't have a powerfull rooster , and that is the reason for them to get some winning matches.Today they've been close to Brazil , after one half , but them the south-americans win the 3rd and the 4th quarter for a 3TD difference.Brazil is the leader of the group , followed by Denmark , New Zeeland in on 3rd and Croatia is last.

Group D

Last season Slovenia fight until the last game for a place at World Cup.But they've been left home , by the futere bronze medallist.This year , with a new coach they want to reach with any cost the World Cup.And they start the campaign with a Big Bomb , after crushing Netherland , a team that was qualify at the World Cup XII.At half time the score was 35 to 10 in favor of Slovenia.In the end the score was 56-31 and the other teams must keep an close eye to Slovenia now.For Netherland is not a big deal , since last year they obtained the qualify spot after the middle of the season.Slovenia will host Romania , and will try to get theyr revenge.Netherland will host Turkey.

It seems to me that Romania like this score.Last year they started with to 35-28 wins , and they've been pretty lucky after this.Maybe this year will be pretty much the same , even that is very hard.Switzerland , the World Champions two years ago , they seems to be on downhill.Maybe they will fiind the streght to comeback.In today's game , the QB was pretty good , but the receivers didn't run very well.Romanian QB , trow 2 picks , so the offence was pretty busted , luck came from the defence.Good win for Romania in one of the toughfest game of the group for them.Surprising , Slovenia leads the Group D , after week 1.Romania is 2nd , Turkey 3rd , but have 1 match less.Switzerland is 4th and will have a bye week.Netherland is 5th and no happy.

Group E

Not a very good game in the terms of the offence , but an excelent defence for both teams.In a group with , Argentina , canada and Czech Republic this match might be the chance for both teams to win a game.Maybe i will be wrong and they could do some nice surprise but only time could tell us , what the future will be.Today Belgium was more allert on defence and take more chance in the offence than Bosnia & Herzegovina.Last season Belgium also start very good and ended on the last place.Hopefully for them it will be different this year.Bosnia need some time to get used to new season.Next week Belgium will fly to Canada , as Bosnia & Herzegovina has a BYe week.

Canada seems to be can't recover after last bad season.Is true that the first game was against Argentina , but even so , we expected a much closer game.Better percentage for the canadian QB , but on defence and total yards , Argentina won the game.In my opinion both teams have good players , but the consestency of Canadian players is a bit to low.Maybe they will wake up and save the season.The season is just at start.They are still another 7 matches to prove who deserve to qualify.Argentina is 1st , Belgium 2nd , Czech Republic 3rd , but without matches.Bosnia is on 4th as Canada is at buttom of the table.

Group F

Most titred national team in the history of the Grid Iron , United Kingdom , has been a little asleep and weak this couple of season.We'll se if the nnew coach can bring them back to top.France also has started to look much powerfull than a few season ago.Last year only luck stop them to go in the quarter final.Today both teams did theyr best.Close stats for both teams.A little higher PCT for France , but the french receivers come a little short every time.One above the other , this game could easy been won by either team.United Kingdom will need to do much more than that to have a chance at this year title.France with a bit of more luck , could easily reach the World Cup.France is up a BYe Week , as for UK will follow a trip to Columbia.
United Kingdom 38 - 28 France

Another season has started for Columbia , and another tought in theyr mind , to fiind a way to win some matches.This time it was Portugal who get happy of theyr play.Them match practicaly started from 0-21 and it was impossible to return that.Second and third quarter much better , but it was already to late.I fell kind of sorry for this team.Only 6 wins in all of theyr history.Portugal want to return at World Cup and dont't care so much of COlumbia.It will be a tough job for them , with UK and France , but they could try.After this week the table look like this: Portugal is the leader , Uk in 2nd.Slovakia after a BYe week on 3rd.France 4th , Columbia 5th.

Worst game of the week.Sorry to say this , but with the PCT of the QB's and the other stats of the game , seems about right to receive this "award".Both teams with weak roosters but , this result doesn't show a very good teams at all.Austria scored a TD and a FG in the first quarter and them nothing.Ukraine win the second quarter and then nothing.For me is hard to think that two nations could make such a bad game , but who am i to judge.The managers from this teams , should be asked more.The teams aren't too powerfull but this result it's a shame.Next week Austria travel to Oceania for a duel with the leaders of the group , Australia.Ukraine has a BYe week.

I think we still hang a little to much of the time when UK and USA fight every year for the gold.Maybe in this period are other teams that will fight for the gold allmost every time.One of this team , who could been considered favorite every year is Australia.This week they played a perfect game against USA.They scored when they needed to score , and they stoped the american offence at key points of the game.I mean that is good football.If Serbia vs Hungary was match of the week from the point of performance , this was the match of the week from the names of the teams.With a little help from USA it could've been the match of the week.The time is not lost.Australia are leaders , Austria 2nd , Bulgaria BYe week , Ukraine 4th and USA 5th.

Group H

Very good game between two medium team.Maybe one of them could do the surprise this year and qualify from a group with Italy and Germany.Today both offences did a very good job conversing the key plays of the game.Twist of scores every quarter , but in the end the lucky team was Norway to score 2 TD consecutive in the last quarter and first win of the season.Mexico need to concertrate more next time and it will be fine.On paper these two teams are the underdogs of the group , but it's always nice to see some underdogs winning.Next week Norway travel to Italy , as Mexico stays at home to host Germany , for the first victory of the season to both teams.

Germany and Italy meet again after last season quarter final , with the germans seek for revenge after that lost.Italians stayed calm and win the game again.Luckily for them , the german QB , had the worst game ever.40 % PCT for him , but the germans with theyr defence , limited the proportion of the score.Italy will be happy with this win.With a first very good half they've been very calm and patient for the rest of the game.Italy is leader after this week , followed by the other winning team of the group Norway.Mexic is 3rd , Germany is last.

Till then i have an announcement to make.My fellow from the team Casino Royale came to me with an interesting idea.He could do some statistical data about national teams matches.He told me that it will be interesting if we have something like a Top 10 for next categorys: QB , WR/TE and defence.For QB he thought to cover the passing yards , numbers of pass TD , number of picks , etc. For WR/TE : number of catching yards , TD catch , etc. For defence , number of tackels , number of sacks , number of picks , etc.


Please tell me a few opinions about this proposal.Also if you have some category in mind , please feel free to write here.
