… And, real quick, just to address all the negative backlash I received because of the missed deadline for the matchup against Norway: I had a personal emergency. I have been diagnosed with cancer.

So the last few weeks have been a whirlwind that caused me to lose track of when the first National Team match was. I wasn't going to come on here and address it until I saw the outpour of accusations and conclusions being made about my personal character, which really disappointed me.

And of course when I managed to set the lineup and we win, the response from the community is the equivalent to a mild shrug.

No explanations required. It is just a game. Health always comes first. I hope everything works out for you in these difficult times.

Real life is so much more important than GI. Very few of us can sympathise with your situation.

Joe, good luck in your battle

Given what you must be going through, I don't think anyone can fault you for neglecting to set orders for a team that's not really yours, in an online game. That kind of real-life situation should precedence over GI every time.

Hope whatever treatment your doctors decide on goes well, and you're back in good health soon.

Really sorry to hear your news.

The community gets a bit carried away sometimes as we're so passionate about this game. But it is just a game at the end of the day, and we all care more about the wellbeing of the members of the community.

Will be rooting for you Joe, all the best
