Lousy start. Early interception leading to an easy TD against us. Defence is playing ok, but we need to make those 3rd and longs stick... :/

oh well!

EDIT: Spoke too soon. We're missing tackles everywhere yet again, not helped by turnovers.
EDIT2: Two stops! One was in deep territory, so we coughed up a field goal, but not all hope is gone.
EDIT3: HAHAHAHHAHA. THey went for it on 4th and 3 on one of the above 'stops', and score a 26 yard td. lol, who does that? Sigh.
EDIT4: Can't make a stop to save our lives, but at least the missed tackles have been reduced. Next year!
EDIT5: I think I'll just stop talking. Looked like we were a shot to make a stop, nek minnut two broken tackles for a 72 yard TD on 3rd down.

EDIT6: It's over. We had a slim chance mid way through the 4th quarter if we got successive stops. 77 yard TD with two broken tackles on a third down to put it back out to 17. Not enough time left. That TD sums up our defence's ability to completely go missing some games, and I have no idea why. I mean, you keep a Danish side that hasn't changed their formation to their lowest score the whole actual WC, keep former world champions Serbia to very few points, but then cough up ridiculous yardage in between. Oh well, no one else can say the last five games they've played have been against opponents with 12 trophies (including 3 WC titles) between them.

The Australia vs Iraq football game is no better watching lol

You were deuced unlucky today. You have moulded what looks to be a good young team for the future. You have played excellent football against quality opposition. You did your country proud.

Seriously cannot be dissappointed. Australia got through qualifying. Then through the groups into the finals. Successful considering our low 22nd ranking. And we had wins against 6th, 7th and 14th ranked teams. And lost in OT to 3rd ranked team.

Against anyone else I think you could have progressed. An unlucky draw though you should be proud. Possibly the furthest the ussies have ever got

Cheers, and here's to you on your journey for the rest of the cup!

On the plus side, Australia has now qualified for the 2014 football WC Finals in Brazil. Scrappy 1-0 win over Iraq solidifies second spot in our group and an automatic place.

Well we beat Denmark and they were beaten in OT in the final - it seems there is hope after all!

The UK's World Cup Winning QB is on the market (but for way too much money). Very interesting.

I gotta say... both Mitch and Bandy are better. He's similar to Mitch, but loses out on one intel, much less stamina, less footwork (but 1 extra vision) but better physicals (so much so, I reckon Corey would make a good LB). If this strength factor comes into play for QBs, he's in trouble (but I doubt that'll be for a while). Also quite similar to our third string in Pierce Boyle. Similar physicals (35 combined) & skills, but Pierce has 3 more intel, more stamina but is less consistent. My current backup QB is from the UK and is almost a Mitch clone so we might see him in the bright lights some day!

As we know, we also have some gun receivers at the moment and have kept up the pace in shootout games (though we lost both eventually). Just have to shore up the defence and hope some good 5* prospects come through.

EDIT: Speaking of the defence, I haven't been sitting on my hands and have been looking for players during the cycle. I've identified a 24 year old, 5* BPOS/5* talent Aussie LB that was previously not on my radar. 20 speed, 15 strength, most key skills around 15 (including intelligence + consistency). Could be a great OLB next cycle.

Given we have Ronald Burrows (another 5* LB with 36 combined physicals + 16 tackle/agility), William Reid (4.5* BPOS, good physicals), and even Mourish on our list, we're looking good in that department. Only Mourish out of those three played this cycle, but all have a huge amount of improvement within them.

Now find me some good 5* CBs!

18th ranking. Highest we have ever been! We were 19th once after WC5.

Reid is now +1 main skills, and both Mourish and Reid should be +5/+6 tacticly by next cycle.
