As far as i know CB don't tackle as often as LB or DL do, but anyway, how important are the tackle/block skills for defensive CBs compared to position or speed? Maybe someone has stats on this issue?

Very important.

When GI writes that a WR/TE has caught a ball for xx yards, it means that your LB/CB/S made a tackle on the WR/TE and prevented a TD.

If the defender misses a tackle, you are risking having the next part of the sentence begin with "... for 67 yards for a TOUCHDOWN! Missed tackle - [insert LB/CB/S] (position) and [insert LB/CB/S] (position)."

Tackling is in my book the second most important skill for a CB. And I am not quite sold on having speed as the most important. I would (after capping physicals) get tackling up to 8/10/12 along with agility and then vision.

That give the CB 4 major skills where one (speed) is doubtful.

Bonus question:

Would playing with two low speed CB's and 2 high speed / high vision safeties be the same as a "Cover 2" defence? Would the two slow CB's end up defending the short zones (by proxy of low speed) and would the two fast S's be able to get a crack at defending the pass / making the tackle?

(I hear a roaring "NO" coming... )

Thank you for the answer , i must rethink something -). I just find myself in the lack of knowledge concerning CBs, it seemed to me that speed and positioning were major skills for them, so i'm frustrated a little

For me its like this: 18+ speed to be considered for CB, then tacticals, tackling and agi to whatever level you desire.. I think speed is less important than the skills, but better to have than to lack Agi, the 4th physical skill helps everybody (except k/p), tack helps, well.. tackling one a player has caught the ball, tacticals seems to force a lower comp % although its a little bit harder to figure.. But thats how I see it

So if vision helps defending passes, I would put vision as first priority. Stopping the pass (either defending passes or pressures) are pivotal for any class defence.

Speed is IMHO as needed as good ol' Al Davis's view on vision. Nice to have, not a need to have.

I think positioning is more important than vision in regards to defending the pass, but that's my opinion. Can't remember what got me to that opinion though, sorry.

Positioning tackling and speed. I dont really think vision helps CB much.

lol yes only if you corner has less than 8 speed more than 18 strength will it be a cover 2

Im leaning towards positioning as well, but I dont want my CBs at too high a level, so I train both just to be sure and control leveling
