So if vision helps defending passes, I would put vision as first priority. Stopping the pass (either defending passes or pressures) are pivotal for any class defence.

Speed is IMHO as needed as good ol' Al Davis's view on vision. Nice to have, not a need to have.

I think positioning is more important than vision in regards to defending the pass, but that's my opinion. Can't remember what got me to that opinion though, sorry.

Im leaning towards positioning as well, but I dont want my CBs at too high a level, so I train both just to be sure and control leveling

I know this argument is based on IRL observations, but...

Would positioning not relate to being "at the right place", while vision will be "on the right time"?

So positioning would put you there to defend the pass, make the tackle and vision would be if you where able to defend the pass, make the tackle?

Honestly, for the amount of time this debate could take up and the realization that none of us know for sure, wouldn't it be prudent to just train them both up? I mean.............that's what I do. That's my 2 cents

i just train tackling and agility. then vision, positioning and catching towards the end of the season to save on some wages.

It can't be that simple...

positioning would help you position urself to defend the pass
vision would help you see where the Qb sees a mismatch.

No it is very complex, just like the game engine.
