Train or Sell?

Pulled this player this morning:

Finn Clark QB 17 Year Old
Talent4.5*

Positioning 3 Tackling 3 Punting 2
Vision 5 Blocking 1 Speed 8
Intelligence 19 Passing 3 Strength 8
Footwork 3 Catching 4 Agility 3
Carrying 1 Kicking 5 Stamina 3

Teamwork 13 Consistency 14 Weeks at club 0

As I'm only a new team should I sell him, and if so how much would I get? Or should I train him up to be my QB. I'd lean towards the 2nd as I like the idea of having a player from the start especially the QB but as I have no staff would it be a waste of his talent?

You'd get a few million for him if you advertise him I would expect although it's never certain.

I'd be tempted to sell because of the speed up in getting stadium/facilities built but it is tough to let such a good talent go.

Don't forget the GI tax though. If you sell him first week you pay 23% of any proceeds in tax! It reduces week on week after that.

With Speed 8 & Strength 8 i would not even pay a million for him...

...and with 6'1'' he is also nothing special

I would keep him!

Again - if i would start over, i wouldnt sell a player like him

...well i wouldnt sell ANY player even when i could get 5+ Millions as a startup...

Its really easy to build up the stadium and team compared to when i started! But its really hard to find&get quality players later on.

Play him at QB - invest your money wisely, build up your stadium - it works! Really!!!

Horses for courses I suppose but i'd happily pay $3m for him after my next home game.

I don't have your bank balance so I'm not quite as fussy and think 6'1" is fine as is low physicals for QB.

That being said my willingness to buy him might be a reason not to sell. Or maybe you thinking he's not worth a lot is a good reason to list him at say $10k?

Keep him for some weeks.. Giving up 23% in tax is tough and no need to do that. But I would take the offer for 3 million.

Perhaps you could sell him now if you can make more money than you pay in taxes on the remaining home games you got. I don't have the time to make the calculations, but some of the 'Elder of Grid-Iron' will surely point that out.

And congratulations on the pull... I am looking for a project QB my self, but I don't have 3 million .. yet .. I will at the end of the season, why I think you should wait to sell... Just kidding.

Thanks for all the replies guys, think I'll take the middle road and keep for now and train a bit and maybe sell after a few more weeks to avoid the tax. That's assuming or course that his value wouldn't go down the longer I leave it.

Training wise, start on the physicals as with everyone else or the QB skills?

Personally I would train passing. The only players I ignore physicals on are QB's, Kickers and Punters.

The new game engine may lead to a need for physicals but I'm taking a wait and see approach!

+1 Higher passing will raise his value.

The GIA tax lowers itself 1% per week to a minimum of 3%.

Cheers for the answers guys, last question I promise(!), would you start him as is to get his Exp/Chemistry up ASAP?

Other QB I have is 3.5* and:

Positioning 5 Tackling 7 Punting 2
Vision 6 Blocking 3 Speed 14
Intelligence 17 Passing 6 Strength 8
Footwork 4 Catching 3 Agility 7
Carrying 2 Kicking 2 Stamina 4

Only got 9 Consistency as well. I'm also double playing him on defence (I went for the plan of pick people on attributes not BPOS).
