If someone sells a player for $1000, do the lose money? $1000 gain - $2500 fee = $1500 loss, right?

more than $1500 cos there is the 1%-23% final fee.

yes you'll lose money...so either calculate a transfer price dividing 2.5k with 1-transfer fee % or take into account that you don't have to pay his wage anymore

If I think there's a chance that a new team might be able to use the player, I'll put him on the market and take the loss if it comes to that. A couple of thousand dollars aren't going to make or break me.

Wouldn't it just make more sense to list him for $3k? If is isn't sold, he'll be fired anyway, right?

That is what I do. But I use a $5000 start all the time.
