That's a kickoff...where did your DT make a tackle on a punt?

Aha! Apparently the error is located between my ears. I must have recorded the KO as a punt in my first post.

So, does my offense essentially become my punt coverage team and my defense (plus gunners) become my KO coverage team?

Yes. And I think I found a gunner on my team getting a punt tackle somewhere, but I can't remember now and don't want to look. So it might be offense (plus gunners) on punt coverage.

Again, I'm not sure which positions the gunners and kickers replace.

But...to your original question...it would be nice if we could train everyone on offense in tackling, but it's not economical. I don't think it's worth the training time lost on more important skills.

you think that's weird ? my freakin QB got a tackle on a punt

Punt Dorian Gorremans punts the ball for 29 yards. Marc Ryvers returns for 3 yards and is tackled by Daniel Vie.

daniel vie , my QB , defending on a punt didn't know we used QB's for that

Read the thread again. Offensive players make tackles on punts.

So...no...I don't think it's weird that your QB made the tackle. Maybe in real life, but not within the confines of this game engine.

in my friendly games these guys defended on punting: 1gunner,1wr,2rb,1te,1ot,oc,1og,qb
so yeah gunners and the entire offensive lineup defend on punting

That makes me wonder if there's a bug that allow 13 players on the field...or if it's 2 gunners, 1 kicker, and 8 random offense or defense depending on kickoff or punt...

You would think that the punter subs in for the QB on punts, but maybe they play with 12-man punt teams in GI (or 14 with gunners).
