Who covers KOs and punts besides Gunners (assuming Gunner cover both kickoffs and punts)? In my last game, I had the following tackles on kicks/punts:
KO = G, SS, DT, CB, FS, and MLB
Punt = QB, OG, WR, DT, and TE (twice)

Should I be training tackling for pretty much everyone on my team???

Edit* I lied...I guess gunners do cover punts.

I think the tacklers are whoever you'd normally have on the field on offense for a punt or defense for a kickoff...not sure who the gunners substitute in for, though.Last edited on 2010-11-07 at 3:01

So, it's weird that you had a DT get a tackle on a punt...

Guess the returner got past everyone else for the defencive tackle to hit him. Otherwise once his past him, it's only the punter left, which normally cannot tackle well.

I think the point was, a DT generally is not on the field for a punt. With that said, perhaps he ran onto the field as a 12th man and the referees missed it

The DT is also a 1.5 star safety and a 1 star QB, RB, WR, and OL, so I guess maybe he got in at another position somehow?

No way if you didn't put him into another position or you played with bot formation.

Was the game last week's friendly and was the DT in question Bill Card?

Because he was playing TE in that game, so could get a tackle on punt coverage.

Also, you had a Gunner playing on offense in that game...I still think Gunners might only cover kickoffs and not punts.

Nope. The DT is question is Leif McGrew, and the game was my last league game (on Nov 6th).

Game:

Kickoff:
Randy Guyer performs the kickoff. He kicks the ball for 57 yards. Armando Small returns for 25 yards and is tackled by Leif McGrew. The offense will start on 62 yards from the end zone.Last edited on 2010-11-09 at 0:00
