I been busy this week doing a roster based on stats given in GIManagement studio.

I jus wanna know if i should be basing stats on SQUAD position weights(thats the strongest players in any chosen position based on the rest of the squad stats)

or base it on the players overall % to maximum for that position.

Ive got my players sorted in positions now based on how good they are compared to eachother and how far they are away from maxing at that position.

Am i doing this right?? Im praying this makes sense to someone atleast

I found I had the same guys coming up as top 3 in several categories regardless of whether GIMS was set % of overall, or % of squad best. Your few stud players will dominate the top of the list at most positions, where almost all of them weigh the physicals heavily.

The main thing I found important with GIMS, was turning OFF the BPOS weighting. As a new team, I wanted to ignore the default position guys had been assigned ...

The BPOS moves up FAR faster as a young team, than training the skills up. You may also need to change their position later on, based on where their physicals cap out. So, I just don't see the benefit of going off BPOS at first.

Example: if you place them more based on BPOS, and your DLineman / OLineman caps out at 12 strength, you're kinda screwed and he's going need to learn a new position or get cut. Your safety / CB caps out at 12 speed - same deal, etc.

So I simply placed people where their tackling, blocking, catching, passing, whatever ... wouldn't require immediate training to still be decent (try to place guys where they've got 5-7 in the first primary) and then train fitness, fitness, fitness ... see where their caps are and if they can stay at that position long-term, then go ahead and crank their primaries from the 5-7 range up to a 10+. This way you don't raise their salary, for a skill they may not need once you figure out their long term position.

Hope this helps ... also keep an eye on the talent stars rating when placing guys, so you don't hit a wall with your QB/WR/TE, etc. a couple of seasons in and have to buy one of the ultra expensive positions off the free agent list to stay competitive.

And here's hoping the sim gets fixed on offense, so the list gets bigger than 3 players to have a dominant offense!
