When setting formations, why do we have to set CB in defence then again under the ORDERS tab? Are they STCB's?

Hence why it says "Select special team members" right above the cornerbacks.

they're actually more blockers than CBs
they play on return teams trying to block the gunners i believe...

It isn't really worth spending cash on the position separately.I use the STCB position to train BPOS for future CBs

this is very good practice

i also like to be a bit weird and play some of my OL to have CB bpos in friendlies (obviously the OL in question can't be playing as OL in the game)

As above - they are there to block the gunners from getting downfield and tackling the the KRs on punts and kickoffs.

I also do not invest much time in these positions, and use them to gain experience a BPOS for my future CBs. But on some big games, I do make sure my STCBs have some sort of blocking skills.
