Is it worth it to specify the specific skill for training when your coaches are low level, or is it best to keep it general so that you don't receive the -15% penalty for specific skill training?

And when if ever is it better to do specific skill training?

I almost only focus train now, that way I get the most point where I want them.

A bonus with this strategy is that it is easier to calculate Speed or Strength caps when a manager doesn't have a Supporter account

From my point of view, no focus is only worth when you are training physical skills or kicking skills.
In all other areas you normally don't need progress on all skills and its much more efficient to focus on the specific skill.

As said, it helps to have a supporter account for the physical skills.

it's only 10% that is missed out on when using focused training.

i used focus training for everything but fitness. but sometimes focus fitness when one skill is capped.

unfocused on fitness until speed/strength cap, tactical i never focus or kicking.

everything else is focus driven.

Completely agree, if you are a Supporter. If not a Supporter then it would be hell to try an calculate if Speed or Strength is capped if training unfocused.

If your coaches are low level, as in 5 or less, I'd say keep it unfocused and get as many points as you can. Yes, you may cap a str or spd skill if you do this to fitness, but with no fitness center and low coaching skill, it would take too many weeks to successfully track a capped skill anyway. You might as well hope for the best and try to get as many points as you can.

Personally, I didn't worry too much about focusing until I had max coaching in that area and the training hall/fitness center to make it worthwhile. However, the 10% penalty you lose is not that much so it's probably not going to matter much anyway. As an example, a player with 20 teamwork, max coaching and fully expanded training hall/fitness center, would lose 5 points focusing on a fitness skill and 6.2 points focusing on a non-fitness skill. Take into consideration that if you kept these points, they would have to be spread among the skills in the grouping and you need a total of 100 pts per skill for the skill to pop, your talking about a pretty small loss. At non-max coaching/training/fitness, etc, the loss is even smaller.

And the training progression is still buggy for 3-way splits, so until that changes - I'd use focus on training for fitness always.

Been tracking it with GIMS, every single focus on 3 way split is giving 75/15/10, not the 75/10/5 listed in the FAQ. Sent another message to support about it, but as of last week's training, it was still giving 10% more than the FAQ states.

So fitness focus on, defending focus on, but the 5 way splits are adding up correctly, with the 10% penalty applied.

i would agree to this.
before i had the supporter, i had to train speed or strength. after a while, i just switched (even though now i have found out that most of my players still have uncapped physicals). training physical for too long at the beginning of your GI career isnt necessarily recommended because you could waste a lot of training time. i quickly moved away from training physicals to training main skills and i worked out pretty well.

Thanks all, I've been using GIMs and training mostly on skills anyways so from everything that was said, I'll just continue to do focus training.
