Thanks to all the GI experts who have been answering my questions so far (and thanks to those who can assist me on these two).

First, do you normally play your starters in friendlies? Or does this have negative effects?

Second, what are usually considered the most important positions to build my team around? I downloaded GIManager and about 4 of my players are my best players in multiple positions. One guy is even my best player for 5 different positions. What is the normal priority of positions in this game?

Thanks again

There are no negative effects. When you are starting out you might as well play your starters in friendlies. Once your starters hit th emax bpos, you can use friendlies to increase the bpos of your backups/ future starters.

1>QB 2>TE 2.5>WR 4>(RB to run the ball when playing bots in the lower divisions) on Offense
1>MLB-SF-CB-OLB 2>DL on the Defense
A lot of it depends on the scheme you run. If any of your defensive players is weak most human managers would exploit it.

What is the normal priority of positions in this game?

I would recommend not worrying about their current positions but trying to extrapolate and look at where they would fit about 1-2 seasons from now because thats when you would probably have a team ready to play against active human managers

Thank you

By the way, I was looking at your team and noticed something weird... Do you only play 3 offensive linemen?

How do you find out which players are best for certain positions with the GI Management Studio?

I downloaded the position stat weights (its an excel sheet) from their website and then uploaded it into GIManager

im not sure those are up to date since the guy running it no longer does anymore. the GI management studio still works but the skill weight of the community im not sure about.

i would say that the QB is unequivocally the most important player. closely behind the QB is either the WR and/or TE. WR/TE are pretty much the same. these 3 positions are by far more important that any other positions.
after that, i would say the MLB, both safeties or OT (which provides 90% of the pass protection against DE).
then probably DE

I m guessing you are talking about the most recent friendly. It was probably a 1-time only thing. Its a good practice to play 5 OL with your best ol at tackle.

Pretty much nailed it on the head....but since your starting out move MLB to number 2...defense matters first couple divisions, after that not to much, if at all.
