I spent most of my starting money on VIP stand upgrades (not on top of the existing reg stands), rearranged my team entirely based on their skills (got maybe 3 players @ their natural positions ... as a football purist seeing DT -> QB makes me cringe but whatever). Setup my formations and tactics for the next 3 games. Set training to fitness across the board.

The little bit of money I've got left - should I upgrade my coaches to get more out of training? Horde it for more stadium upgrades in a couple weeks when the originals finish? Not sure if there's anything to do at this point but wait for the next few matches? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's best to hold on to that money and upgrade the stadium as much as possible whenever you can. To get the best effect out of coaches, you should buy 1 coach skill to max, and that takes quite a bit of money since you need to have enough in bankroll to pay 10 weeks of salary plus the bonus. Building the stadium up as quickly as you can gets that money rolling in faster. If you build on 1 side only each time, you have 3 'free' stadium builds starting out. What I mean by 'free' is that you don't lose any money from home games since the sides had no seats to begin with. You have the 1000 seats given to you. You're building on another side now. So pool all your money for the next few weeks, then build as much as you can on a 3rd side. Do this again for the 4th side. After you have seats on all four sides, you need to be a bit more cautious about building, since you will lose ticket money for home games on the side you're adding seats too. Many wait until they have 2 away games, or during the offseason. If you have 2 away games coming up, then by all means use that to your advantage and build on a side that already has seats then. Many times, however, you don't get this, so I recommend building on the side with the lowest income each time you build and start your build 2 weeks BEFORE a home game, preferably on Wednesday morning between 00:30 and 4:00 server time. Building at this time saves on 3 weeks of maintenance fees instead of 2. The reason I build 2 weeks before the home game is that when the stadium is done, you will get a home game income that weekend. Yes, this usually means that you take a hit the weekend after you start the build, but most likely, you're going to take that hit 1 week or the other, you might as well get the benefit from it as quickly as possible. This also gives you income the same week as your higher maintenance fees instead of paying a week of high fees then getting the home income.

As for what else you can do? You can try to acquire a few players off the transfer list, but most don't recommend this. If you do go this route, go easy on the spending. Don't spend more than $10K on a player and don't buy many players at this price. I preferred buying several $1K players. Most were useless and were cut, but I did find a few gems. More than enough to make it worthwhile to me anyway. Wait on coaches for awhile. At least until you get all VIP seats built. Maybe even Exec seats too. I'd also recommend building the appropriate fitness center/training hall to fit what coaches you buy before you buy the coaches. Try to match it so that the center/hall is finished the same week as you buy max coaches for what you want to train.

Oh yeah, I had advertised for and grabbed a friendly ASAP. Was more confused on what to do until the league match + friendly match rolled around. Patience is a virtue ... of which I am apparently devoid.
