it's why i think there should be a % sales tax based on asking price. with say, 60% of it refundable if the player sells.
this would make for much more sensible asking prices and regulate the market better..

off the top of my head, have something like this;

if you post a player on the market, the cost to you is 10% of the asking price.

eg. you post a player for 10000. Tax = 1000
post a player for 1mil. Tax = 100k

If the player sells then you get 60% of the tax back
if he doesn't sell (i.e the asking was too high) you pay the full tax.

This would discourage chancers putting mediocre players on the market at huge prices. It would be too expensive to keep doing it as you'll always be losing the full tax when they don't sell. however it lets people put reasonable prices on players knowing that they'll sell and the bulk of the tax will be returned once the sale is done.

I like the idea, the only downside is that it will probably force most people to start out at 1000 since you hardly have to pay taxes then.. Dont know how big of a downside that is though...

to be fair, if a player is good, he should sell for his worth in general

but also, i don't think it's unlikely that people will post players at 100k they know will sell for this
pay 10k in tax knowing they'll get 6k back

i just think it'll give a more accurate representation of players value according to starting price
