if playing alot of humans, a kicker is important.
if playing alot of bots, a kicker is not.

The important skills for a kicker are Consistency, Kicking, and Punting. I'd look for 18+ on consistency. Since you are division V. I would try to get kicking and punting at least to 5, but no higher than 7 for now to keep salaries down.

im not sure there is a single difference. the kicking game isnt even a blip on the radar against humans. LITERALLY (in the websters dictionary sense of the word) any player can take a extra point and make it.
field position aint all that important either.
a kicker with 5 kicking/punting will kick/punt for about 50/30 yards. a kicker with 16 kicking/punting will kick/punt for about 64/38 yards. hardly worth it but after your team has been built up, it wouldnt hurt
I recommend having the kicking coach left at 1 and use one player as both kicker and punter.

i see it this way:-

when playing a bot, you run/pass in 30yard+ TDs easily. and you never really have the chance to go for a FG.
when playing humans, you get stopped alot more. and you have alot more chances for a FG.

when playing a bot, you might punt the ball 4-6 times a game.
when playing humans, you will punt the ball 10+ times a game.

hence why i only see them important against humans.
