Is positioning an attribute for where the guy positions himself in relevence to an opposing or defending play?

Yup I like to believe what you said ctrudely defines positioning

From what seemed the general consensus based on discussiions and questiosn and answers, Positioning is for defense what vision is for offense

positioning can be used for offense also, as WR position themselves when running routes and how the linemen position themselves to stop the DL.
