I was wondering what exactly experience rating does? Ive by now pretty much figured out what all the rest does, except for experience.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Experience has only been confirmed to increase the speed at which a player gains Team Chemistry.

thanks ... so as i expected it is not really important unless you are buying a veteran player.

Does Team Chemistry have much of an effect on a player's performance? I must admit to being sceptical - I bought a WR last season and he scored all 5 TDs on his debut in a 35-0 win v a human team...

I bought a player recently with 19 tackling and put him in a game right away. He missed 2 tackles. My guess is it was team chemistry

Reading elsewhere on the forum it sounds like TC works like consistency - it can make your player better or worse than he really is.

Impressive what can be found in the FAQ

1. What is team chemistry?
Team chemistry is the indicator how well the player is “gelled” with his team. Anything lower than 5 stars (meaning team chemistry 20), and the players performance is impaired. With team chemistry 1 (a newly bought or pulled player has a team chemistry of 1) a player plays about 30% worse. Each game the player plays ads 1 to the team chemistry. Players that are experienced can get 2 team chemistry points each game they play. Each point of team chemistry reduces the negative performance by 1.5%.

Also, team chemistry is part of the equation used to set the starting game performance of each player. It is used together with consistency and physicals (strength, stamina and speed) to come up with the start rating.
